4. Liver is the major purifying station in
our body.
The blood that reaches the liver from
the alimentary canal has increased
quantities of glucose and amino
acids.
Glucose has to be maintained at a
constant level in blood for life
activities to proceed smoothly.
The glucose level in the blood should
be at 70-110/100ml, if it increases
above 126mg.
5. The excess
glucose in blood
is converted to
glycogen by the
liver and is stored
there.
When the
quantity of
glucose in blood
decreases, the
glycogen is
converted to
glucose by the
liver.
6. The excess amino acids are also
reached in liver.
Amino acids undergo breakdown
process in liver and form ammonia.
Ammonia is harmful to our body
even for a small amount.
Liver converts ammonia into urea by
combining it with carbon dioxide.
Ammonia + Carbon dioxide → Urea

8. The toxic substances which
reach our body through food,
alcohol, medicines, etc get
destroyed in the liver.
The old RBCs also get
disintegrated inside the liver.
