PURPOSE
Entertain the audience with a thrilling action movie.
DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT (GENRE & PLOT ELEMENTS FEATURED)
I am going to produce a film poster campaign for a (put your genre in here) film as part of the
promotional materials for the film ‘Target Practice’.
The film is about an average business man has a bounty put on his head and the criminal
underworld wants his head, he frantically attempts escape as he is hunted relentlessly. It will later
be revealed that his wife put the bounty on his head because placing a bounty is cheaper than
getting a divorce. The main assassin relentlessly pursuing the protagonist is a throw off villain
still presenting an antagonistic roll whilst misleading the audience as too who they and the
protagonist can trust. There will also be another suave sniper wanting to collect the bounty who
will test how well the protagonist can handle life or death situations.
The plot elements that I will feature in the poster are the main characters and vehicles of the
characters as well as the main antagonist.
OUTLINE OF STYLE
The Main character will be holding a gun to his head however the side of the arm closer to the
gun will be the main females arm holding the gun as a form of foreshadowing to the story twist.
This element will be in all posters.
Poster One:
The fake-out antagonist will be looking down at the audience to show his extreme egotism seeing
everyone else as beneath him. In addition, it presents him as a powerful towering force but also
somewhat goofy which gives the audience a threatening yet entertaining antagonist. He will be
surrounded by drones presenting him more as a scheming figure instead of a hands-on antagonist.
In addition, the background will be a destroyed suburban environment to show the sheer
destruction he leaves in his wake.
Poster Two:
Has a female character with a sniper taking aim with a confidant almost smug smile. This
character is the femme fatal who is kept morally ambiguous to help entice the audience as to who
she is and what her role in the story is. Her relaxed and confidant position shows a smug yet
efficient killer on top of a roof ready to hunt her prey.
Poster Three:

The final poster will see the protagonist stand fearless and be the centermost image taking up the
majority of the poster, bloodied and beaten in the poster which helps inspire tension in those who
already are interested in the movie. The background will have several weapons aiming at the
protagonist.
IMAGE LIST & BRIEF DESCRIPTION
For the first poster it will be a low angled shot, that puts emphasis on the fake out antagonist to
subvert the audience’s expectations. He will stand above even the audience as a display of his
egotism. In addition, the image includes drones and a destroyed suburb to show he’s more of a
scheming threat using his drones and intelligence to destroy the protagonist.
For the second poster it will be a close up to the sniper having just fired. The female using the
sniper will be leaning down in a causal position to present the task of killing a person as
effortless. This gives the character a threatening aura, seeing a composed killer who takes pride in
her kills. The background will be on top of a building as this is a common practice for snipers to
have a high up vantage point for their kills.
For the third poster it will be a Mid shot showing the protagonist grow into a more heroic and
confidant role. He will be in a damaged alteration of a business suit to show how far he has came
from being an average businessman. He will however be surrounded by weapons aiming at him to
show that every party wants the bounty which also drastically raises the stakes.
FONT LIST & BRIEF DESCRIPTION
I would use Dafont for the movies billing block and have Brittanic Bold for the title the tagline
would be a bold yet formal font suiting of the action genre, for example a large amount of British
action movies usually have formal and simple fonts that still stand out.
TARGET AUDIENCE (AGE, GENDER, LIFESTYLE, INTERESTS, SPENDING
POWER)
The target audience will be gender neutral and be between the ages of 18-35 as these audiences
are most commonly the ones who enjoy the action genre. In addition, having main characters of
both male and females appeal to a wider demographic and having a businessman protagonist
humanises the character with the audience and makes it relatable to the audience who likely are
also facing some for of boring day to day employment.
HOW THE POSTERS WILL APPEAL TO THE AUDIENCE

The posters use typically dynamic urban backgrounds and effects like bullets and explosions
which are iconic features of movies in the action genre. The main characters will be in their early
thirties as to set home the businessman out of his elements story whilst appealing to the older
members in the demographic. The action genre usually targets male audiences however having a
secret female antagonist will help to hopefully make the movie more appealing to both male and
female audiences. I want the protagonist to over time conform more to the stereotypical action
movie hero role which will be displayed through the varying posters. In addition, the female lead
often plays a damsel in distress role or a femme fatal which I would instead subvert to have her be
cunning and scheming ultimately betraying the protagonist.
DISTRIBUTION
A poster must clearly represent the story beats and genre of the film whilst appealing to the target
audience both in age and gender. It must have a general tone be it adventurous action hero or
sombre revenge story about a person with nothing to lose it must know its audience and appeal
accordingly whilst keeping the plot beats and tone similar to the movie.
MARKETING - HOW & WHERE THE POSTERS WILL BE ADVERTISED
Physical copies could be around the school or local shops willing to let med advertise it, in
addition several social media platforms are a free and very accessible method for reaching a wide
audience as well as reaching a more modern demographic. A website could be created for the
purpose of advertising the movies. Other forms of advertisements would include billboards and
Newspaper advertisements however billboards would be very impractical due to the costs and
Newspaper advertisements whilst being more realistic don’t appeal to my target age group as
Newspapers are usually read by people aged Fifty and above whereas my movie’s general
audience would be much younger. As a result, Social media advertising is by far the most
practical form of advertising to my target audience, this is because social media has become
common place among most age groups especially ages Fifteen to Mid Thirties which means
advertisements on social media naturally reach a more specialised and typically larger audience.
Similar to how people would use billboards in highly populated areas to appeal to the target
demographic and gain a wider audience, social media can advertise via websites or outlets like
Instagram and Twitter to a more direct audience. Furthermore, audiences that react to the film on
social media now have an outlet for discussing their excitement online which then generates free
advertisement via word of mouth whilst also helping ensure viewership on the movies release.
POSITION IN THE MARKETPLACE
The first poster will be stereotypical and conform to typical action movies with a main obvert
antagonist being above others.
The second poster then presents a female sniper who is deadly and calm. This fills the
stereotypical suave femme fatal role that is common in action movies.
The final poster will present the protagonist as the stereotypical action hero which presents a level
of growth through the posters similar to a character arc within a movie. Having the main character
struggle and eventually find himself conform to the action protagonist role will entice the

audience.
From personal research action movies typically find viewership from factors such as celebrity
actors and directors, enticing plot and visually appealing marketing. For example, poster design
including enticing conventions of the action genre like weapons and explosions would help reach
my ideal demographic. In addition, having certain character roles such as: “The villain, The hero,
The heroine” help entice audiences of both gender whilst appealing to fans of the genre who enjoy
these tropes in other action film.
