2. We have dog shelters in almost every town in
our country. We always hope for a new one to
open because they are never enough. Too many
homeless dogs and too little dog shelters.
3. We do have dog parks in some cities but not enough
again. We are working on opening new ones in our
neighbourhood.
4. The main reason of dogs getting to the streets is that
people don't understand their responsibility of taking
care of a pet (dog) and they abandon them so easily.
Of course, the second problem is that there are not
enough dog shelters or organizations that want to do
something about them.
5. First of all, the government should have an organisation
which will check people who want to take care of a dog
and how serious they are about that. Also, there should
be more dog shelters opened at least two in every city.
6. People are cruel. The thought of how some people do
not take care of their animals makes us feel horrified.
We understand people have to work, but it's not an
excuse for not taking care of their animal. Also, we are
sure that people who would let their dog live outside
on a chain don't love that dog. Many of them can't
handle extreme cold or heat and they don't want to be
kept outside alone. Pets need social interaction.
7. The Leviathan movement was formed in 2015 in
Belgrade and since then it has been rescuing abused
animals. It stands up against inhuman acts, such as
animal injuries, starvation and ejection on the street,
and it provides complete health care.
8. ‘Animals’ is a broad term, but yes, Serbians
keep animals in the house. Cats, dogs, birds,
pigs, hamsters, mice, domestic animals…
9. Animals are living, breathing creatures who feel
love, pain, loneliness, need food, water, attention
just like humans. Firstly, we respect our pets,
because they aren't just animals. It's important to
provide a healthy environment for animals,
because they need a clean and comfortable place
for sleeping and living. Also, it's necessary to look
for a good veterinarian. Food should be healthy
and of good-quality. We communicate with our
pets, we talk to them, we don't want them to feel
rejected.
10. Pet sitters care for clients’ pets in clients’ homes. Pet
owners often use pet sitters when they go on vacation,
travel for business, work long hours or when they are
too sick to care for their pets which is really great!
11. It is a great idea to adopt a pet from the shelter or
keep them up from the street! As long as you will be
committed to taking care of the pet as a new part of
your family. If you adopt dogs/pets you also save
their lives and give them the love they deserve!
Remember, dogs/pets are not objects that you buy
for your entertainment, they are friends you make!
A stray dog would love you as much as a fancy
poodle.
12. We have pet hotels in Serbia. We don't have special
rules for pets in our homes, because if you really
love them you don’t impose any special rules on
them, except the ones that can prevent them from
hurting themselves.
We must also look after them
and never neglect them
as in that case the neighbours
can call the police.
13. In my opinion it is okay to hunt or fish up to a point - if
you don't affect or hunt endangered species. It must be
a fair fight, though.
14. It depends on if we want some specific breed then
we would buy a dog , but we are more for adopting
one because there are so many homeless dogs who
need home.
15. Animals share with us the privilege of having a soul.
