King Tutankhamun (or Tutankhamen) ruled Egypt as pharaoh for 10 years until his death at age 19, around 1324 B.C. Although his rule was notable for reversing the tumultuous religious reforms of his father, Pharaoh Akhenaten, Tutankhamun's legacy was largely negated by his successors.King Tuts PPT

∞Tutankhamen was an Egyptian
pharaoh 18 th dynasty.
∞He ruled from circa 1333 to 1323
BCE, he ascended the throne at the
age of 9, and didn’t get any too much
accomplishment in his 10 years as
pharaoh.
∞Tutankhamen wasn't an
especially important king, but his
tomb was the only royal burial found
intact in modern times. The tomb
as important because it let
archaeologists record what an
Egyptian king's tomb looked like
and learn more about ancient Egypt.

∞When he became king he married his half sister
Ankhesenamun.
∞They had two daughters, both stillborn. CT scan of

DYING IN
ANCIENT EGYPT
∞ Ancient Egyptians believed in the afterlife.
∞ The journey to the land of the dead was a difficult
one.
∞ Special book of magic spells, to help a person reach
the land of the dead.
∞ It was called the “book of the dead” and tests.
∞ Everyone had to pass a test in the Hall of the two
Truths to see if they were worthy of going to the
afterlife.
∞ The heart was weighed with a feather on a set of
scales by Osiris God of the underworld.
∞ His heart was lighter than the feather then you
were permitted entry to the land of the dead.
∞ If it was heavier it meant the person had lied and
the heart was eaten by Ammut, devourer of the
dead, preventing the person from entering the
afterlife. 9

written over entrance to the burial chamber.
∞Lord Carnarvon died 7 weeks after Tut’s tomb was
first opened.

people thought it was because of the curse. (Lord
Carnarvon)
∞It didn’t help that several more people connected
to the tomb’s opening died in a short space of time
after the opening (10 years).
∞However, Howard Carter lived another 17 years
