4. Reach for the Future
Aims of the Programme
• To prepare and inspire young people from hard to reach
populations
• To address gaps in provision in Liverpool City Region and
Greater Manchester (based on Free School Meals/Cold Spot
Data)
• To address the issue of STEM related subjects being dropped
at an early age
• Increase knowledge of STEM subjects and the Careers they
relate to
5. Reach for The Future
Objectives
• To increase the quality and number of contacts between KS3
pupils and STEM employers/employees
• To increase the number of workplace experiences
• To develop resilience and personal effectiveness
• To increase academic attainment by supporting pupils to consider
pathways and set goals
• To increase knowledge of the Growth Sectors (particularly STEM
related)
• To use employer volunteers to deliver inspirational activities in
order to help young people consider a broader range of options

• Key Stage 3 students
• 65 schools across Greater Merseyside and
Greater Manchester
• 32 – Greater Merseyside and 33 Greater Manchester
• Number of participants - 5850
7. How will schools be identified?
• Those with the highest number of students from hard
to reach background
• Free School Meals
• Cold Spot Data Analysis
• Schools can include
• Mainstream Secondary Schools
• Special Schools
• Students attending Alternative Provision/PRU
8. Programme - Delivery Model
• Delivered by Coaches
• 10 Interventions- World of Work/ LMI/Growth
Sectors/Employability/Mental Toughness/Resilience
• 5 – Coach delivery only
• 5 Coach delivery and employers
• Employers to be identified by Sefton EBP and
Manchester Chamber of Commerce
9. Key Outcomes
• Increase in resilience, confidence and self esteem
• Improvements in attainment
• Pupils are inspired to consider a broader and more
ambitious range of Career Options (increase pupils
choosing STEM related A’ Levels)
• Pupils have an understanding of the World of Work
– improved employability skills/pupils are more
prepared
