2. MARCUS - 16
Marcus is neither the geeky kid or the most popular kid but
somewhere in between. Although he is part of the popular group of
kids at school, he is very rarely involved with them outside of school.
This is because Marcus is very afraid of his parents, not because there
are signs of abuse in any factor, purely down to their strict rules they
set in the house, rules by which Marcus never breaks.Which as a
result can make Marcus seem socially awkward and distant from
conversations.
Ben Richardson (myself)
As I have previous acting experience in GCSE drama and
GCSE media, it made sense that I would take the role of
Marcus. Playing Marcus, I had to be able to coney fear and
anxiety which is difficult to successfully achieve. It made
sense for me to take the most challenging role due to my
prior acting experience.
3. BLAKE - 18
When I think of Blake, I think of Ronnie O’Sullivan, English Professional
Snooker player.Very charismatic, independent and a leader. Like
Ronnie, Blake had to juggle doing his schoolwork, sport and job, whilst
looking after his younger sister because both his parents were in jail.
Due to a lack of supervision and income support Blake often made bad
decisions to earn a bit of extra money, which could be argued
demonstrates his strong character as he was having to work to provide
for his sister. As a result of Blake’s independent lifestyle, he is often seen
to be aggressive and rash, often influencing the four boys to do stupid
things. He also doubts the group members, appearing arrogant.
Finn Hanley
Finn was the obvious choice for the role of Blake as he is
excellent at portraying this type of character. In our
previous production, SUSPECT, he portrayed a similar
character to perfection. This made Finn the obvious
choice for the role of Blake.
4. TOMMY - 17
Like Kyle,Tommy is also an average 17-year-old. As lockdown has caused
the school year to stop, it allowsTommy to spend most of his days
gaming. As a result of too much exposure to violent video games,Tommy
has been completely desensitized to blood and gore, making him more
willing to play aggressive games with his friends.
Sam de Bruin
Sam spends a lot of his free time gaming; therefore, he can
accurately convey the representation of Tommy’s character.
Sam is also a particularly motivating and cheerful person he
is always up for things, fitting in with the role of Tommy.
5. KYLE - 17
Kyle is a relatively normal 17-year-old, who works hard in school but also
sees the value of a good social life. Kyle can easily be influenced, which
makes him an excellent companion to Kyle as they both cause trouble. Kyle
has a relaxed family life which means he isn't often pressured by his parents
to stick to rules unless it impacts his future or theirs.
Matthew Heyns
We chose to cast Matt as Kyle as he could successfully portray
the character. Furthermore, found footage is a large aspect of
our film and Kyle is the character usually filming with his
phone. Matt’s excellent ability to film with a steady hand made
the choice to cast him easy
6. ALECIA - 18
Alessia Stefanutti
We decided to cast Alessia as Marcus’s sister Alecia as she
can portray the role of a strong, independent woman who
plays by her own rules. She also has good acting experience
as she took GCSE media. Furthermore, Alessia is fully licensed
to drive a car and owns a Fiat Panda. This is useful for us as it
allows us to film the car scene we planned before casting.
Alecia is the older sister to Marcus. However, they both have far contrasting
lifestyles,Alecia shows no fear of her parents as she likes to bend the rules
without them knowing but will always show respect to them . Like an older
brother looks after a younger sister, the roles are reversed in this case, as
Alecia does all she can to accommodate her brother. This is because she
feels he is missing out on all the social experiences she had at his age, which
as a result makes her the cool older sister because she tries to encourage
Marcus to go out and have some fun, even if it isn't within their parents'
permission.
7. REPORTER - 35
Thomas Bowling
The decision to cast Thomas Bowling as the reporter was
mainly down to his excellent ability to speak confidently
in front of camera. His capability to clearly convey
messages with a serious tone provided us with the perfect
man for the job. He is also always impeccably dressed,
which has connotations of a news reporter.
We needed to cast a reported to read a short speech
about the Transparent Animals. We had to look outside
our production team for this member of the cast as it
would not be realistic to cast one of us as we already
appear in the trailer as other characters. The reported
will be well-spoken and confident in front of camera. It
is very important for the reporter to keep a straight face
no matter what he is talking about.
