Talia Smith plays the main role in our film,
Sarah, a middle class housewife that is
married to a travelling business man. She
is also mother to 11 year old Laila, her and
her daughter Laila have a very close
relationship with each other due to her
father being away for the majority of the
time.
Sarah’s role is caring, but also portrayed as
secretive and somewhat sneaky. Most of
the time, Sarah depends on her husbands
for happiness and therefore creates a
memorable day on his return.
3. CHARACTER 2 – LAILA SMITH (LAILA)
Laila Smith plays Laila, your usual 11 year old
girl whom is innocent and naïve.
The character of Laila is expectable, however is
unaware to her mother’s performance in the
breakfast scene with the mobile phone.
Throughout the film, Laila is wearing her school
uniform which is seen as the ‘norm’ for
young children. With her hair being tied up, it
also helps resemble innocence and
vulnerability through her appearance as well
as her character.
4. CHARACTER 3 – PISHDAAD MODERESSI (KAMIL)
Pishdaad plays the role of Kamil, the father to
Laila and husband to Sarah. He plays a
mysterious role, similar to Sarah, with an
unidentified character which is later on
revealed in the film.
He initially plays a nervous, shy character but
later reveals his confident personality, from
an audience point of view they probably
assume that he has some sort of sexual
relationship with Sarah (Talia) due to her
outfit. The use of the mint whilst he is waiting
for Sarah to answer the door also shows that
he is trying to impress her yet be relaxed
about their ‘meeting.’

Similar to Laila, Ben is also your typical 11
year old bot, he isn’t apparent in the film
as the other characters but still portrays a
young naïve boy.
