United Catalyst Corporation was founded in 1992 as Cat Recycling by Tim and Becky Berube to purchase used catalytic converters. In 1996, the company was renamed United Catalyst Corporation and moved to Providence, Rhode Island. In 1999, United Catalyst Corporation built its first shears and began processing material to send to refiners. In 2019, the company moved to a 100,000 square foot facility in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.
