In 2015, High Bridge will install over a dozen pilot green infrastructure projects in the Calumet region, ranging from rain gardens to wetland and tree plantations. High Bridge hires and trains local residents, gaining experience in green infrastructure techniques. Once installed, High Bridge maintains the sites for at least one year until plants are established. The long term vision is to expand green infrastructure across the region and use demonstration sites to educate others.

2. Enhancing Environments for 60 Years
• The firm was founded in 1948 by Floyd Moore,
as soon as he got out of high school, with
startup money saved from mowing lawns in the
summertime. Moore Landscapes, Inc. has since
become one of the larger contractors in the billion-
dollar Chicago landscaping market.
• The early client list of the company, originally called
Moore’s Landscape & Nursery, included mostly
residential maintenance projects on Chicago’s
wealthy North Shore along Lake Michigan. This
client list expanded in the early 1960s into larger
commercial installation and maintenance projects.

Signode Steel Company, now part of Illinois Tool
Moore Landscapes executives say the secret to the company’s success lies in its

• The company grew into the multi-family arena with the help of the
Rubloff Company in 1962 by installing the landscape for their huge
Sandburg Village community. This is now regarded as the impetus for
gentrifying the famous Gold Coast neighborhood of old brownstone
rowhouses and greystone mansions (bordered on the east by
Lake Shore Drive and Lake Michigan).
• In the 1970s, the company took on larger multi-family installation projects,
including the Mission Hills Golf Course Community in suburban Northbrook.

• In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the second landscape-generation Moore

the May meeting of the Illinois Facility Managers of Northern Illinois
(IFMANI) on the topic of Green Roofs. Kevin’s presentation was
