JAZZ UP YOUR PROFILE
4. HOW TO SET UP A TV ROOM
On a mobile
device:
Under the
‘More TV
Rooms’ menu
on a show
page, select
‘Start A Room’
Set up a show
name and
description.
5. Name your room: give your
room an appropriate name
Change the room description
regularly. Use it to setup the
discussion for the day or
week.
Make sure your room has a
nice hi-res picture. Our design
team is happy to help.
Decide who can post and
comment. Generally you’ll
want everyone to comment,
but you may want to limit
posting to yourself (admin),
depending on your style.
MANAGE YOUR ROOM
Edit your room settings
6. • Create questions or comments which are short
and direct. This isn’t a place for paragraphs!
• Use big, engaging media like an image, video
or gifs!
• Ask a single question in a post.
• Keep it casual!
• Chat about moments that make people feel
something: laugh, cry or get angry.
START THE CONVO
7. • Room Admins can pin threads to the
top of the TV room.
• This is the first thing people will see
when they enter the room. Make sure
it’s relevant for everyone when it’s
pinned to the top!
• Unpin this during the episode so
people can discuss it live with the
room loading the latest comment.
8. • If you follow someone, you can then send them an @mention.
• They will receive a Beamly notification if you @mention them.
• Just type @ and then their name.
TAG YOUR CREW
9. • Pings are a push notification sent to the Beamly
app to all users who are following a room. Room
Admins can send out a Ping to their followers.
• We would recommend sending a Ping no more
than once a week.
• Invite people to your room with a purpose. It
could be: “Let’s chat about the tonight’s ep live!”
or “We’re doing a vote – have your say now!”
• Pings must be under 90 characters.
• Respect your community – do not spam your
community with Pings.
PINGS
10. • Take advantage of every opportunity to ask an open question to engage
fans of each thread. Keep the conversation rolling!
• Lead by example and open conversations!
ASK OPEN QUESTIONS
11. • Send an @mention to room regulars when asking questions or posting
your best content. This will let them know something new is in the room.
• You can say goodnight at the end of the show, and encourage people to
come back next week.
ENGAGE ROOM REGULARS
12. Just like in the real world, finish the
conversation you start. If someone makes
the effort to talk to you, respond to them.
If you post a trivia question, make sure you
post the answer a few hours later.
Look over older conversations from the past
week to see if anyone has continued a
conversation that you haven’t responded to
yet.
FINISH THE CONVO
13. • Keep in mind that Perth fans watch a
show 3 hours behind the East Coast.
• Don’t send Pings or notifications
revealing spoilers or winners – even the
following day.
• It’s recommended to begin posts with
“Spoiler: Ep 7” if you are discussing an
elimination or plot twist.
• Example: “If you are posting about
episode 4 onwards, please use the
SPOILER EP 4 tag at the beginning of
your post”.
TIMEZONES
14. • Update the room description weekly if your featured content or featured
show changes. Eg. Chat about Episode 4 tonight!
• If you have regular events, post it in the description eg. Trivia on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday!
• Make the room image enticing and represent clearly what your room is
about. The recommended size is: 1024 x 576
