1. STRATEGIC LITERACY PARTNERS
Supporting professional learning communities K-12 and across content areas
SLP is dedicated to helping districts and teachers enhance PA Core Standards-based
curriculum and instruction designed to help students become powerful readers and
writers.
We believe that this can best be accomplished by connecting
• state requirements and research-based best practice
• curriculum, assessment, and instruction
• reading and writing
• teachers within and across grades, content areas, and buildings
SLP consultation is a two-step process.
• Meet with administrators and/or teacher leaders to articulate needs for K-12 literacy-
related curriculum, assessment, and instruction
• Provide professional development to address identified needs including, but not
limited to
• best practice literacy instruction in ELA and content areas
• literacy curriculum design/development
• formative and summative literacy assessment
• use of PA Domains for instruction of reading and writing
• application of Danielson Instructional Practice Framework to literacy
instruction
• use of literacy data in professional learning communities
