4. What is discipleship?
• Discipleship is the
continuing process
of growing as a
disciple. It is the
process of helping
another disciple
grow. It is
commonly
referred to as a
“disciple-maker.”
5. • Followers must deny self.
(Luke 9:23)1
• Jesus must be placed as
the absolute authority in
our lives. (Luke 14:26-27)
2
• It requires commitment
& sacrifice. (Luke 14:28-
33)

Requirements for being a disciple of
Jesus Christ.
6. 5 Ingredients of successful discipleship
By Allen Hadidian
• The disciple must have a life worth emulating. One main requirement
of a disciple of other people is to have a life others can imitate. A
godly role model is especially important in urban discipleship.
• In discipleship we commit ourselves for an extended period of time.
The length of time required to disciple another person depends on
the person being disciple, on the spiritual maturity of the disciple, the
number and type of strongholds that need to be conquered, and his
level of commitment and motivation.
• For most effective one-on-one discipleship, we need to commit
ourselves to a few individuals at a time and not e tempted to turn our
discipleship into a large group.
• The purpose of disciple-making is to guide the disciple to maturity.
• In discipleship, we equip the disciple to reproduce themselves in a
third spiritual generation. Without reproduction, a species will cease
to exist; so it is with spiritual reproduction.
8. The discipleship ministry of Jesus
Christ
• Jesus had an intimate
relationship with those he
discipled.
• Jesus practiced perfect
guardianship.
• His duration of
discipleship was until
completion.
• Jesus prepared his
disciples through teaching
and training.
• Jesus always created the
perfect environment for
growth and development.
• Jesus provided focus
through purposeful
concentration on the
smaller group to ensure
effective discipleship.
10. Outreach ministry is a disciple at
work in God’s overall plan of
salvation. Disciples are at work in
God’s name stretching out to meet
needs in the wider community.
Outreach ministry can be provided
my many in their everyday lives – at
work, school, home and community.
It is in these places where endless
opportunities are present to meet
the needs of others.
