reminder to its employees of why the company
exists and what the founders envisioned when
they put their fame and fortune at risk to
breathe life into their dreams.
 An enduring statement or purpose
distinguishing the organization from others
 A company should address classic questions:
 What is our business?
 Who is the customer?
 What is of value to the customer?
 What will our business be?
 What should our business be?
 Mission statement provides employee with
 Sense of purpose
 direction, and
 opportunity.
 Reflect a vision an almost "impossible dream"
 Focus on a limited number of goals
 "We want to produce the highest-quality products,
offer the most service, achieve the widest
distribution, and sell at the lowest prices"
 Stress the company's major policies and values
 They narrow the range of individual discretion so that
employees act consistently on important issues
 Define the major competitive spheres within which the
company will operate
 Industry, Products and applications, Competence, Market
segment, Vertical, Geographical.
 the mission statement answers the question,
“What is our business?” the
 vision statement answers the question, “What
do we want to become?”
 To ensure unanimity of purpose within the organization.
 To provide a basis, or standard, for allocating organizational
resources.
 To establish a general tone or organizational climate.
 To serve as a focal point for individuals to identify with the
organization’s purpose and direction, and to deter those
who cannot from participating further in the organization’s
activities.
 To facilitate the translation of objectives into a work
structure involving the assignment of tasks to responsible
elements within the organization.
 To specify organizational purposes and the translation of
these purposes into objectives in such a way that cost, time,
and performance parameters can be assessed and
controlled.

Corporate mission

  • 2.  A company's mission statement is a constant reminder to its employees of why the company exists and what the founders envisioned when they put their fame and fortune at risk to breathe life into their dreams.  An enduring statement or purpose distinguishing the organization from others
  • 3.  A company should address classic questions:  What is our business?  Who is the customer?  What is of value to the customer?  What will our business be?  What should our business be?
