Techniques for those who create fantasy sports Developers
Game Sense
1.
2. The Game Sense
approach focuses on
student’s engagement
and enables them to
be tactically aware of
decision making and
having fun (Light,
2013)
As a teacher, engaging
students with the
activity keeps their
interest and
motivational level
higher
Game Sense is a
student centered
approach (Light,2013),
as it focuses on the
different abilities of
each individual
4. Game sense enables students to develop an understanding
about the game and/or sport that they are playing (Light, 2013)
Game sense is generally achieved through modifying
games/sports
Game sense enables learning through dialogue between players
and teacher, rather then teacher direct teaching (Pill, 2014)
A PE teacher's perspective of the game sense
approach. Sam states (Pill,2014):
- “students come up with their own
strategies”
- “their skills are improving” as their
engagement increases
- ’improving their awareness of the game
5. Rationale
Game sense is an effective approach to implement while teaching
games and sports, as it enhances student engagement, increases
development learning and awareness.
As a future teacher, I believe that the implementation of the game
sense approach will increase collaborative learning, developing new
skills and increasing student’s self-esteem.
Referring to the PDHPE K-6 syllabus, the outcome GSS3.8 focuses on
movement skills in games and sports that ‘require communication,
cooperation and decision making’ (Board of Studies NSW, 2007 p.28).
Through this approach students develop a skill of self-expression,
socialisation and participation
6. -Through this approach, students
develop skills and knowledge by
participating and engaging with the
games/sports (Light, 2013)
-I believe this approach has a positive
strength in pedagogies , as students
enhance their knowledge through
physically being exposed to the games
-Pill (2014) discusses that the game
sense approach enables students to
develop their own thinking, as this
allows them to discover their skills
