The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has
always been a well reputed educational
institute that produces highly qualified and
well-rounded undergraduates to the
academic and industrial world. In 2014 the
Faculty of Applied Sciences in University of
Sri Jayewardenepura introduced a new
four year degree program, known as ‘B.Sc.
(Hons) Degree in Applied Sciences’, which
is specifically focused to cater the
industrial needs. This degree program
covers areas such as Management Science,
Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics,
Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Plant
Biotechnology, Plant Biology,
Environmental Management & Forestry
and Polymer Science & Technology.
With the two years’ progressive existence
of the degree program, the ‘Society of
Industrial Scholars’ was formulated by its
student body in 2015 with a motive of
continuous improvement of its quality and
student performance. The Society has
organized numerous value adding events
to its course of history within a short
period of its inception.
The Workshop Series & Career Fair 2016 is
such another event added recently to its

It was a privilege to participate in the Career Fair and the Series
of Workshops, as this whole event program was about giving
the participants knowledge about what corporate sector
expects from us and how we can develop ourselves to be well
equipped and more suited professionals for the corporate
world. As a participant I'm very happy that I was able to
connect with many resource persons at a personal level. These
connections are the most important and this event was the
best place to create them.
Additionally thanks to the workshops series, I was able to face
the interviews at the Career Fair with a very positive mind and
confident. Without any doubt I was able to convince the
interviewers of my worth, and I was directly offered an
Internship at the end of the very first interview I faced.
Overall the program was highly successful and I'm very
appreciative for the learnings I received through. I wish to
thank the Organizing Committee for all their countless effort.
