4. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I am really thankful to my instructor Ma’am Sana Chatha who gave me the opportunity to do
this magnificent project namely as “Health Care Facilities In Pakistan”.It really helped me to
learn how research is done practically. Also, I came to know about the condition of patients in
different hospitals.
Secondly,I am greatful to the Management of all those Hospital’s whom I visited and they
allowed me to carry out my research smoothly.Lastly, I want to thank all those Patients who gave
their precious time to complete my research.
Summary
This research is basically focuses on the health care facilities being given to the patients of both
Public & Private Hospitals in Lahore.Whole research is carried out by keeping in mind the
Quantitative Research Technique,For Instance: Questionnaire.
According to this research many steps can be taken to improve quality of health care in hospitals
which I will discuss later and I will try my best to remain neutral throughout my research.
5. INTRODUCTION
Lahore is Pakistan's second largest city with population of approximately 9 million people, and
the capital of the Punjab province. Lahore is no doubt Pakistan's cultural capital, with rich and
fabulous history of over thousand years.Lahore is the largest District of Punjab with 16
operational Public Hospitals while more than 40 large hospitals are operating under Private
Sector.Health Care has always been a secondary matter for all the governments and it is not
given importance since the creation of Pakistan.
It is a tragedy that Health Care Budget for whole Punjab in Fiscal Year 2016-2017 is 43 Billion
Rupees while Orange Line Metro Train which is currently being constructed in Lahore just to
accommodate few thousand people has a budget of 160 Billon Rupees, this shows the seriousness
of government regarding health care for whole Punjab.
Lahore is currently having almost all the state of the art equipment for the treatment of different
diseases, like Neurology department in Lahore General Hospital is accommodating patients from
whole Punjab as well as from other provinces. This department is only of its kind in whole
Pakistan which have advanced equipment and trained doctors. That’s why in many cases patients
are given late treatment which results in death tool to rise..
In Punjab there are only 3 Children Hospitals which has a sole purpose to give proper medical
treatment to all children regarding their diseases and if necessary but again facilities and
advance technological equipment is not available in Multan and Faislabad Children Hospitals as
a result doctors refer most of the cases to Lahore Children Hospital for further treatment or
performing operations.Which as a result makes it overly populated. And maks it difficult to treat
every patient timely causes death tool to rise.
In Lahore there are many large and small Private hospitals. Private hospital have advance
technological equipment and giving the same treatment as Public hospitals but they charge high
fees which underprivileged people are unable to pay only rich or upper middle class can afford
6. these facilities. These hospitals are well furnished.

HYPOTHESIS
Keeping in view my observations and researches I can drive a hypothesis that can further be
tested through surveys. I used the Primary Research Method Technique which was Questionnaire
that was filled by the Patients of both Public and Private Hospitals. The suitable hypothesis that I
can draw from my research is that:
‘PUBLIC HOSPITALS PATIENTS ARE SATISFIED AS COMPARE TO PRIVATE
HOSPITALS’
Plan the ResearchDesign:
After I have derived out a hypothesis that can be tested I designed a method through
which I will obtain the suitable information to precede my study. So the main method I choose
for my research is via survey i.e. questionnaires. This helped me to grab the idea that how many
people are satisfied with the performance, treatment and their overall experience at the hospital.
So, I decided to go with Questionnaire for my research purpose
Analysis of Data:
The data that I have collected through my questionnaires and other researches are to
undergo analysis in order to prove my hypothesis. I have classified, tabulate, and compared the
data obtained to find a result. According to the questionnaire that I distributed among 40
patients of both Public and Private Hospitals
7. Particular Public Hospital Private Hospital
Overall Satisfaction Level 14 People 12 People
Doctors Attitude HIGHLY SATISFIED SLIGHTLY SATISFIED
Nurses Attitude GOOD SLIGHTLY GOOD
Ambiance GOOD GOOD
Knowledgeable Staff Highly Knowledgeable Knowledgeable
Disease/Pain Control YES YES
Staff Response HIGHLY SATISFIED SLIGHTLY SATISFIED
8. Conclusion
The evidence from my survey are sufficient to conclude that Public Hospital Patients are highly
satisfied as these hospitals fees are very low just 10 Rupees for the entrance. While Private
Hospital Patients have to pay high fees just to admit into the hospital. Private hospitals just want
earn high Profits. While Public Hospitals are operated by Government with sole purpose of
SOCIAL WELFARE OF THE SOCIETY.
