2. nylon
Nylon is an artificial
fiber. It is one of the
most commonly used
polyamides . nylon can
also be used to make
other materials , such
as parachutes , ropes ,
string , carpets , fishing
nets and cloth and
socks

3. nylon , any synthetic plastic
material composed of
polyamides of high
molecular weight and
usually, but not always,
manufactured as a
fiber. Nylons were
developed in the 1930s by
a research team headed
by an American chemist,
Wallace H. Carothers,
working for E.I. du Pont de
Nemours & Company.

Material required to
manufacture fiber
Raw materials used
in nylon are petroleum ,
natural gas , lime stone, coal ,
water , acetylene etc.

6. Use of nylon
⊷ Clothing – Shirts, Foundation
garments, lingerie, raincoats,
underwear, swimwear and cycle
wear.
⊷ Industrial uses – Conveyer and seat
belts, parachutes, airbags, nets and
ropes, tarpaulins, thread, and tents.
⊷ It is used to make a fishnet.
⊷ It is used as plastic in manufacturing
machine parts

8. ⊷ It has excellent abrasion
& wear resistance.
⊷ It has high tensile and
compressive strength.
⊷ It's known for its low
coefficient of friction.
⊷ It's a lightweight option
that's 1/7th the weight of
conventional materials.
⊷ It makes for easy
machining.

9. Effect of synthetic
fibers on environment
Synthetic fibers also taint the
water bodies, from a waste
product derived from textile
factories to dyes, they are all
flushed into our waterways
and sewers, making
the environment more
harmful and dangerous.

11. Man-made fiber exports
have grown
to contribute 16% to the
total textile and clothing
exports
from India worth $40
billion in 2018-19.
“We contribute 2% to
India's GDP and employ
more than 18 million
people directly and more
than 20 million people
indirectly.
