GPA Product Development, NCAA Basketball
OBJECTIVE
After almost two years of building my knowledge of team sports licensing and post-embellishment at the retail level within my position at
Nike Golf, I wanted to grow my understanding of the business from the opposite side of the realm, at the promo level. Product creation has
always been something I knew I wanted to do, my college education was based solely around apparel development and marketing.
Combining Design, innovation, process and execution to help deliver product that not only serves the athlete, but helps that athlete succeed
at the sport that they love, is exactly what I want to do.
In December 2015 I was offered the opportunity to join the GPA product development team whose focus was NCAA / Grassroots basketball.
Over the next three months I would use my existing NCAA logo and color knowledge while honing my skills in areas such as the building of a
BOM and the process of blowing it out across all teams.
Below is a breakdown of each function I was able to execute
Lab Dip Tracking
Filling out Team Way
BOMs
Trim Strikeoffs
Graphics Tracking
ASHLEY RICHFIELD
Reviewed trim strike-offs for the Basketball Parka checking trims for the following:
• Color accuracy, comparing colors used on trims to approved team PMS swatches / last year’s approvals
• Logo accuracy, comparing to the “standard logo guide” as well as schematics provided by production art
• Execution and quality, ensuring a cleanly executed finished product
• Size of trim, making sure it was to standard, fitting within dimensions of allotted placement on product
Completed Team Way BOMs for multiple promo basketball styles including the Player Staff Jacket/ Pant, the
Player Staff Warm-up, Shooting Vest, and Game Jacket, reviewing and completing the following color callouts:
• Body / sleeve / gusset / waistband
• snaps / draw cord
• Zipper colors
• Trim colors
• Standard logo callouts / twill colors
• Swoosh / Jordan / LeBron / ELITE Team Logos
Initiated lab dips through PPS and tracked them in Excel through the Lab Dip Tracker, ensuring all color
combinations for teams were accounted for each of the items including, body fabrics, waistband’s, gussets,
snaps, and trim twill.
Completed the Lee Bou trims “graphic tracker” Excel sheet with standard team logos for NCAA / Grassroots
basketball teams, cross-referencing production art of the Player Staff Jacket/ Pant, Game Jacket and Shooting
vest; including the following information
• Trim codes
• Standard logo images on corresponding garment colors
