  19. 19. Installation of Ubuntu 10.10STEP 1: − Insert Ubuntu 10.10 cd in the cd drive. − Boot the PC from cd. − Select English or other language according to your preferences. 19

  21. 21. Installation of Ubuntu 10.10STEP 2: − Choose first option for trying ubuntu without installing(Live Session). − Choose second option for installing ubuntu on the hard drive. 21

  25. 25. Installation of Ubuntu 10.10STEP 4: − Click Forward − Checking Minimum Requirements for running ubuntu on your PC. − If everything is fine you can see green coloured tick marks & then click forward. 25

  29. 29. Installation of Ubuntu 10.10STEP 5.1: − Select the free space and click Add option to create a new partition. − Choose partition type as Primary(size around 70% of the free space available). − Use ext3 journaling file system and select mount point as “ / ” and click ok. 29

  31. 31. Installation of Ubuntu 10.10STEP 5.2: − Again select free space from table and click Add option. − Choose partition type as logical (size around 300mb). − Use ext3 journaling file system and select mount point as “ /boot ” and click ok. 31

  33. 33. Installation of Ubuntu 10.10STEP 5.3: − Again select free space from table and click Add option. − Choose partition type as logical (size is around twice the size of your RAM ie.. if 512MB Ram means you have to allocate 1000 MB for swap area). − Use as swap area and click ok. 33

  36. 36. Installation of Ubuntu 10.10STEP 6: − Click Install Now. − Installation wizard will ask you location. − Select your location and click forward. 36
