INTRODUCTION OF TAJ HOTEL
 On December 16 1903 the Taj Hotel was founded by Jamshetji N
Tata. Majority of the Hotel Company in India is the parent company of
Taj Hotels and resorts.
 Taj Hotel has expanded its wings enormously all around the globe.
Presently they have 7 Palaces, 76 Hotels, at 52 locations in 12
countries with an employee strength of about 13000 people.
Additional 18 more hotels of Taj Brand is operated all around the
globe currently.
 The Taj group of Hotels falls in the category of luxury and leisure for
the tourists all around the world. They offer finest standards as far as
hospitality norms are concerned.

CSR POLICIES FOLLOWED BY TAJ GROUP OF
HOTELS
 Purpose:-The main purpose of CSR is that to give back to the
society which an organization receives while performing its operation
in the society itself. Corporates and hotel industry is committed to
improving the quality of life of the communities in which they are
performing their work. The main purpose of this CSR activity is that
to ensure a sustainable livelihood. It is the duty of the company to
uplift the socio-cultural developments in its areas of operation.
 Focus Areas of Improvement:-
 Skill development programs vocationally.
 To preserve the heritage, culture, handicrafts, and arts of that country
in which they are operating.
 Creating rehabilitation program for providing disaster relief.
 Income generation for the people who are residing in that area.

 Responsibility of Board of Directors:-
There are certain responsibilities which the board of directors should
take on themselves to implement properly on their CSR functioning
activity. So let’s see that what are those responsibilities:-
 To approve the CSR Policy which may have been recommended by
the CSR committee and to make necessary changes and
modifications which are required.
 Properly ensuring that the CSR activity which is undertaken as per
the policy must be done by the company itself.
 The company must be investing some amount of money in every
financial year as per the norms of CSR committee.

CSR COMMITTEE IN TAJ
The structure of CSR Committee is designed in such a pattern so that
there is no room for any confusion in following the directives of the
committee properly.
 The committee comprises of one independent director and three
directors in the committee board.
 The main responsibility of this committee will be as follows:-
 Recommending and formulating the policy of CSR which indicate
the activities which are laid down as per the Schedule VII of the act
of Section 135.
 Providing the Board a suggestion on the expenditure of the CSR
activities.
 Monitoring the implementation of the policy from time to time.
TARGET COMMUNITIES AND PROJECT
LOCATION OF TAJ GROUP
The Taj group targets a specific group of people to perform their CSR
activities. The target community of the Taj hotel includes certain
group of people like less privileged, rural, differently abled, women,
marginalized youth, indigenous artisans, disaster victims and other
such groups which are associated with the Taj group are its focus
area. The locations of the projects are set as per the requirement of
the target group which are mentioned above. So it has become clear
that which are the focus group of people who need this service of this
CSR activity in their future courses of action
CSR BUDGET
The budget to be used in promoting this activity is the most crucial
and important factors of consideration. The amount to be spent by
the Taj group should be stipulated under the act which is being
changed and amended by time to time as per the need of the
situation. Presently 2% of the average net profit will be spent on
these activities as well as it should be approved by the board. Any
Surplus or which may be generated from the projects of CSR should
not be a part of the business profit. On the contrary this amount will
be invested in the next project or on any other activity in the following
year.
ECONOMIC ASPECT OF TAJ GROUP OF
HOTELS
 The Taj group of Hotels encompasses of India’s finest hotels and
Asia’s largest hotels and its subsidiaries.
 The current asset of Taj hotel is 10,944.57crore and last year the
revenue generated was worth 4706.27 crore and currently they have
hotels in 99 locations all over the world.
 The IHCL is operated in the three different segments to operate in
the market like mid, premium and the value segments of the market.
 Taj Comprises of Full luxury, resorts and palaces.
 Taj exotica comprises of resorts & spa brand.
 Taj Safaris comprises of wildlife lodges It has also ,merged up with
Vivanta for providing, lodges and hotels for traveler across the
metropolitan cities.

YEARS OF EXPANSION
2009:-Taj announces their new premium hotel as Viventa by Taj
which is located in Goa, Panaji, and the upper scale segment
2008:-Taj has joined the hands with the Tashi group to open Taj Tashi
hotels in Bhutan.
2004:-In the Usha kiran palace in Gwalior it has opened the Juva
spa, it is considered as the first economy class hotel in Bangalore
under the Ginger brand.
2001: Taj group was awarded for opening Taj Palace in Dubai.
1980:- It has opened first hotel in outside India in Yemen as Taj
Sheba hotel in Sana’a.
1974:- It has opened its first five star beach resort hotel in the Ford
Aquada beach Resort in Goa.

ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES TAKEN BY TAJ
HOTEL.
Sustainable use of natural resources is the prime focus of any
organization today. By working on Eco-sensitive areas to reduce the
harmful effects of Industrialization on the natural habitat. By reviving
the natural habitat. As per the EARTH program of Taj Group of
Hotels. They have initiated several steps like energy efficiency, water
conservation or preservation, and waste management system. All the
hotels of the Taj group are environmentally friendly and they do not
disturb the ecological balance of nature. That is the reason why they
have launched various Eco-friendly programs to initiate the proper
functioning of this preservation strategy.

Above four initiatives are taken by Taj group to create an
environmental and eco-friendly atmosphere around the world and to
create a benchmark for all those companies in the hotel industry to
inspire them in Eco-friendly awareness program to promote the
global platform. That is the reason why most of the world-renowned
hotel industry business houses want to use this model of TATA group
to foster their growth in their future endeavour. So living in a fresh
environment and preserving its natural habitat is one of the prime
focus of Taj Group.
CONCLUSION
All above discussion clearly proves that why Taj
group is the most successful organization in the
world to expand its market worldwide. As we all
know that profits make an organization strong but
the ways of earning that profit make it even
stronger. It has become the most sustainable
destination of the world today in the map of the
Tourism industry. Implementing various innovative
measures to attract the attention of the Target group
makes it one of the largest Conglomerate in the
hotel business today to embark and provide world
class facility to its guest all around the globe
consistently.

CSR POLICIES FOLLOWED BY TAJ GROUP OF HOTELS  Purpose:-The main purpose of CSR is that to give back to the society which an organization receives while performing its operation in the society itself. The main purpose of this CSR activity is that to ensure a sustainable livelihood. CSR COMMITTEE IN TAJ The structure of CSR Committee is designed in such a pattern so that there is no room for any confusion in following the directives of the committee properly.  The committee comprises of one independent director and three directors in the committee board.  The main responsibility of this committee will be as follows:-  Recommending and formulating the policy of CSR which indicate the activities which are laid down as per the Schedule VII of the act of Section 135.  Providing the Board a suggestion on the expenditure of the CSR activities.  Monitoring the implementation of the policy from time to time.
  • 6. TARGET COMMUNITIES AND PROJECT LOCATION OF TAJ GROUP The Taj group targets a specific group of people to perform their CSR activities. The target community of the Taj hotel includes certain group of people like less privileged, rural, differently abled, women, marginalized youth, indigenous artisans, disaster victims and other such groups which are associated with the Taj group are its focus area. The locations of the projects are set as per the requirement of the target group which are mentioned above. So it has become clear that which are the focus group of people who need this service of this CSR activity in their future courses of action
  • 7. CSR BUDGET The budget to be used in promoting this activity is the most crucial and important factors of consideration. The amount to be spent by the Taj group should be stipulated under the act which is being changed and amended by time to time as per the need of the situation. Presently 2% of the average net profit will be spent on these activities as well as it should be approved by the board. Any Surplus or which may be generated from the projects of CSR should not be a part of the business profit. On the contrary this amount will be invested in the next project or on any other activity in the following year.
