The wellness way nov 2015
1. VOL: VI No: 7 ‐ November 2015
From the Founder's Desk
Dear Reader,
Financial Wellness is one of the
dimensions of Wellness. Even though, I
am a businessman, I have not covered
this topic earlier. There are many
definitions of Financial Wellness but for
me it is good management of whatever money we have. It
may refer to an individual, a family, a corporate sector or the
Country. How you utilize it so that your day to day life is
smooth with enough savings for the future. Financial failure
may end up in disaster for a person or a company. Beware of
little expenses that can accumulate into a huge burden. We
should not forget that a small leak will sink a huge ship.
On 29th October 2015 evening I shared the dais with my good
friend, Mr. R.Guru, the Managing Director of N.Ranga Rao &
Sons, Mysore and my childhood friend Mr. Vijaynath Bhat, a
retired Senior Bank Officer at the programme “Re-igniting the
Manufacturing Leadership” organised by SME One Source,
Bangalore.
We were sharing our experiences with a few budding
entrepreneurs of Mysore. Mr. Guru narrated an incident of
how his father managed the initial days of his business. One
day his father gave him Rs.10/- towards his school fee. Due to
some reasons, he was not able to pay the same on that day.
When his father came to know about it, he took it back saying
“It is good, I need it for my bus fare.” This is how his father
built the organization brick by brick. But today some people
take huge bank loans and build beautiful AC chambers for
themselves first and later suffer financial problems in operation
and end up in closure of units. That should not be done.
In my opinion, Entrepreneurs are the real social workers.
They not only create wealth for themselves but also for the
country. Instead of seeking jobs, they help many by creating
jobs. In this context I would like to share with you a very proud
moment that I enjoyed the other day when I got the
opportunity to honour my good friend Achutha Bachalli,
Founder, Chairman and CEO of Unilog Content Solutions Pvt.
Ltd. Rotary MidTown conferred on him the Best Industrialist
Award and I was privileged to present it to him on 28th
October 2015.
Achutha’s recognition has given a message to the budding
entrepreneurs that age is not a barrier to start an industry -
Achutha had started his unit when he was at 54 - generally
most people would like to retire at that age. Today, he is around
70 years young and is ably guiding Unilog which has 600 plus
employees working in India, US, Australia and UK. Dear
Achutha - I wish you all the best in all your future endeavours
also.
In this issue, we have covered Arka Dhyana and Neurobics,
topics which are related to heart and mind. I am sure you would
find them relevant and beneficial.
I also take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy
Deepavali - the festival of lights.

NEUROBICS - AEROBICS FOR THE MIND
During early childhood, neurons multiply at
the rate of 250,000 neurons per minute.
Since birth our brain keep growing for more
than 18 years and stops growing after the age
of 18, however at the time of birth, the size of
human brain is almost the same as an adult
brain, containing most of the brain cells
developed for a human life.
If you are a learner, you will have a thicker
cerebral cortex. As you learn, cerebral cortex
grows thicker.
Stimulating environments boosts your child's
ability to learn by 25% and grow them sharper
and intelligent.
Human brain keeps making new neurons
throughout life depending on its mental
activity. So improve your mental activity,
practice Neurobics and have a stronger brain
network of neurons.
About our Brain
Nowadays, people are very much into aerobic exercises
like walking, jogging, swimming etc. that exercise their
body. Less known are mental exercises designed to
stimulate the brain in new ways and enhance the brain's
performance and help prevent memory loss. These are
called as Neurobics. It is presumed that sensory
stimulation and unusual activities like non-routine
actions and thoughts, encourage growth of new neurons
in the brain.
A neurobic activity should:
- Involve one or more of your senses in a new context.
- Involve your full attention, at least briefly.
TO IMPROVE YOUR BRAIN HEALTH &
WELLBEING
Focus on these aspects of your life:
Thinking (beliefs and attitudes), emotions (mindfulness
and resilience), behaviour (new healthy habits).
Understand that the brain is not hard-wired and the
connections between neurons can change. When
you are forming new memories, you are rewiring
your brain.
Nourish the body - mind system with good
food.
Exercise promotes the birth of neurons.
Calm and de-stress. Chronic stress can
change the wiring of our brains.
Socialize with friends and enjoy new mentally
stimulating activities
Sleep improves cognitive function and
consolidates memory.
Focus and pay attention to what you want to
remember.
Organize your life; use memory aids.
Challenge your minds and stay mentally
active.
Believe that you can do extra-ordinary things.
Sing, listen to and enjoy music. Music
stimulates multiple senses, increases IQ,

Types of Neurobics
There are multiple types of neurobics like
Empowering neurobics, Purifying neurobics, Joyful
neurobics, Loveful neurobics (heals the heart),
Peaceful neurobics, Enlightening neurobics, Blissful
sound neurobics, Dynamic neurobics as a neuro-
muscular exercise, and so on.
Light Neurobics: Natural sunlight has a tonic effect
on the mind, body and spirit. Sunlight influences our
endocrine system, healing energy from the sun
corrects vibrations in the physical body, sunlight
deprivation causes mental and physical illness. Light
neurobics makes use of the colors of light (VIBGYOR).
Color is a form of vibrational energy that has played an
important role in health and healing for thousands of
years. Different colors affect the mind, body and spirit
in different ways and most cultures associate colors
with particular qualities, feelings and so on. Color
breathing and color showers visualization is one of the
latest techniques used in neurobics.
Sound Neurobics: Sound causes vibration. Healing
sound synchronizes body, mind and soul. Tone of
healing sound alters the vibrations of every cell of the
human body. This helps stabilize the mind and body
and strengthens the spirit. Chanting makes your mind
still and peaceful. Chanting of Aum with visualization is
the best of sound neurobics, which is the crux of all
pranayama.
Rajayoga is considered as one of the best neurobic
exercises which energises and activates both parts of
the brain. It is the best medicine for holistic health.
Directing mind power to muscular and respiratory
exercises is the most powerful way of awakening the
mind and animating the body.
Go for Neurobics!

Arka Dhyana workshop - Intuitive Meditation
Sometimes, it is time to look within, and so when there was an
open invitation from Vijay Foundation to an introductory
workshop on Arka Dhyana (Intuitive Meditation), on
Saturday 7th November, as many as 30 people from different
walks of life healers, doctors, and those interested in
wellbeing walkedintoitspremisesat11am.
Dr. B.R. Pai welcomed the gathering. He said that we should
allow, as much as possible, for the body to self-heal. Energy
Medicine is the medicine of the future. If Neurobics is about
using the mind, Meditation is about dropping the mind.
Meditation is the art of doing nothing and the science of
looking within. Arka meditation is consciousness awareness,
and an intuitive intelligence program - involving Touch,
Breath and Sound. It has been practiced for over 25 years with
greatbenefits.
Arka Foundation's Dharmesh and Meera Raghu then took
over. They introduced Arka Dhyana as an enlightening
journey into our inner realms, created by Srinivas Arka,
author & philosopher. It involves balance of mind and heart. It
discovers the power and potential of the heart, to connect with
our Self.Arka(sun) dhyana is transformative. Intuition is the
voice from the inner self which is suppressed most of the time.
“Intuitionawakenswhenintelligenceis exhausted”.
Arka Dhyana is a combination of 3 key components- breath,
touch&sound.
Breath: slow, relaxed and conscious breathing. We connect
with our Inner Self through Breathing. Controlling one's
breathing means controlling one's emotion. Conscious
breathingmanifestsasawareness.
Touch: provides healing and releases stored energy, through
Arka Dhyana Session

19 subtle touch centers in our body. By touching these centers
in a flowing sequence, we invite our conscious awareness and
energiestorisetothesurfaceofthebody.
Sound: deep humming of a mystical nasal sound, SAA-ROO-
GO-VAUM, causes vibrations that benefit our physical and
subtle forms. It stimulates the nerve centers to release healing
energy,makingonehealthy,energeticandcheerful.
The sequence of breath, sound and touch unifies body, mind
and spirit, complementing the physical, mental and emotional
aspects. Touch, synchronised with breath and sound, instils a
powerful magnetic force into each point of the body. The whole
sequence weaves together a beautiful symphony which
harmonises the body and mind. Touching the heart with the
right hand and jnana mudra in the left, tells “You are the heart
andtheheartis you”.Thereis anabsolutefeelingofoneness.
Finally,inYogaNidra,oneletsgo unconditionally.
Allthiswas demonstratedstepbystepbyMeeraRaghu. There
are 3 levels in which they can be practiced - initially at 8 touch
points,thenat12 andfinallyatallthe18touchpoints.
The benefits ofArka Dhyana are many - it reduces stress, helps
relax, increases awareness, enhances memory, helps
rediscover one's potential, improves health & wellbeing and
developsintuitivewisdom.
The practices are very easy to learn, but need daily practice and
applicationinreal-lifesituationsinordertoreapitsbenefits.
Vijay Foundation's Venkateshan compered the program. All in
all, a weekend well spent, in the cause of meditation and
wellbeing.
“Make the Mind the meditator, the Soul the subject,
the Body the seat, the Universe the meditation centre.”
