1. English Fest 2023
The goal of Cordova Public College is to give students the chance to better
understand how English literature and language serve as a vehicle to advance
moral principles that allow a person to better herself and use the information
acquired to instill constructive change
The annual English Festival celebration gives students the chance to develop
their appreciation of the language. This occasion opens up a wider channel
for communication. It is a festival where several competitions help students
improve their English skills.
Guided by this year's theme: ""Redefining the Self with Literature, Advocating
Inclusivity and Diversity, "The whole-day event took place last Monday, March
13, 2023, at Cordova Sports Complex.
The students competed in five categories, namely; Pantomine, Speech Choir,
Poem interpretation, and Vocal Duet
The highlight of the event is the Character Portrayal, Two pairs from each
department presented themselves elegantly on stage from the opening
number down to the Multiverse of villain character portrayals. and were asked
to deliver an introduction or monologue of the character they are
representing.
Congratulations, CPCnians! Thank you for making the event fun and exciting
with your hard work! Til our next English Fest Celebration!
2. IT DAYS
Last March 14 was the IT-Day which was held at Cordova Sports Complex in
Barangay Poblacion,Cordova, Cebu. CPCnians showed vigorously their
interest in the said event.
With the theme of "IT makes a Difference!Work hard and face the future with
us" , IT Department did not disappoint.Pageant with a twist by Portrayal of
heroes showcased the creativity and talents of each student. Not just that, they
were able to pull off a Dance Contest, PC Assembly, Video Parody
Presentation, Capstone Project Exhibit, Poster Making, Database Query
Challenge, Web Page Designing, Programming Challenge, E-sports and
Tekken Booth. Such an amazing day indeed.
The event would not be possible without the support of our very own IT
Chairperson, Mr. Nicasio P. Amoin Jr. and college President Dr.Fatima Richell F.
Eviota.
The event made each CPCnian student proud that whatever circumstances
that each one faced , with determination and teamwork would equal success
in any endeavour.
3. MR AND MS CPC
March 15, 2023, Coronation Night of Mr. & Ms. Cpc is one of the highlights of
the Intramurals, Wherein contestants get to represent their respective
departments.
Cordova Public College empowers young men and women to achieve their
personal and professional goals while providing a forum in which to use their
talents and intelligence to achieve a platform dedicated to making a
difference in the lives of other men and women.
As the roaring cheers of the audience intensified, the search for the next Mr.
and Ms. CPC,m finally introduced the candidates through a production
number. The candidates stunned the judges and audience with their best
poses and presented themselves elegantly on stage with their long gowns and
formal attire.
Finally, the awarding came as each candidate was asked to go up on stage
to announce winners. Each candidate had done his/her best and it has been
a tough decision as the battle was intense among the candidates.
The awards were given to the candidates to also give recognition for their
efforts: The Special Awards, The Minor Awards, and The Major Awards.
Although the energy of the students was still full and visible, the time had come
to finally end the program. It is such an astounding moment worthy to be
remembered and shared by parents, students, and colleagues.
4. DANCE TO UNLEASH YOUR INNER CHAMPION
The selection of dancers happened last Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Cordova
Sports ComplexThe BSHM department ruled the dance floor as it amassed 2 golds
for Jive and Rumba categories during the Dancesport Competition, while BSIT got
the gold for the Cha Cha category.
A loud round of applause should be given to each department for the excellent
job they did in using dance to communicate their emotions. Everyone has earned
the title of winner since they put their all-out effort into everything. Everyone saw
how determined each team was to win this year's title, and that eagerness will
undoubtedly add flavor to their success.
TOP MODEL
The inclusiveness of the pageant industry is not particularly well recognized. In
the past, contestants have typically been predominantly tall, white, and
slender. Yet times are altering. This year, Cordova Public College held its first-
ever LGBTQ pageant.
The joke claims that the pageant industry would collapse if the LGBT
community stops sponsoring it. The enthusiastic admirers from the rainbow
family are behind the women who dazzle with their flawless cheekbones and
assured gait, correcting their hair, donning makeup, adjusting their posture,
and preparing them for the crucial Q&A. And now it is their time to shine.
The winners of the Top Model are namely: Third Runner-Up Candidate #6
Amber Tupas 2nd Runner-Up Candidate #8 Rhiane Gamboa (Not Real Name)
5. 1st Runner-Up Candidate #2 Shenrey Babatuan, and the first Top Model 2023
is Candidate # 5 Freya Garduce.
DANCE PALABAS
After months of preparation, weeks of planning, and countless hours of
practice, the bodily-kinesthetic students' most anticipated moment has finally
arrived. This took place during the Dancing Palabas competition amongst
departments that served as the Intramurals 2023's formal inauguration.
The dancers displayed amazing body movement. They danced with all of their
grace and heart to tell a story to the judges and the audience. Every
department screamed to the top of their lungs to show everyone that their
cries were the representatives' weapons and defense.
BSHM department was ultimately victorious despite the heated rivalry and all-
out effort from each team. Every department screamed at the top of their
lungs to demonstrate to everyone that their screams were the weapon and
shield of the representatives in their performance, which was inspired by "High
School Musical," the dancers moved their bodies with grace and passion to tell
a story to the audience and the judges.
AWARDING
Awards play an important role in a student's life. The intramural sports program
offers rewards in all activities for the champions of the different departments.
Recognizing a student's accomplishments is essential, much like disciplining
and correcting them for their mistakes. Students are greatly motivated to work
even harder and honestly when they receive even a small amount of praise.
6. Students are made to stand out when they receive prizes and diplomas, which
further inspires them and draws in other kids to try harder.

Intramurals
8. For the first time in over three years, intramural sports are back at Cordova
Public College in full form.
On March 15, 2023, the intramurals started off at 7 am with a sports parade.
Before going to the Cordova Sports Complex, athletes from each department
circulated the streets of Gabi while dressing properly for their respective sports.
As the host called the names of the departments, triumph, and raucous cheers
flooded the Cordova Sports Complex. Each department came up with a
succinct but distinctive approach to describe what it does.
Participation in intramurals helps students further develop their social skills,
cooperation, teamwork, physical literacy, and overall health. Most importantly,
intramurals give students who lack access to organized sports or physical
activities within the school or community much-needed opportunities.
SPORTS WRITING
To signify the start of the Intramural Games, the lighting of the torch and
friendship urn was led by some of the school's top athletes.
This year's Intramural Games will host selected sports from March 15-17
including badminton, table tennis, baseball, sepak takraw, basketball,
volleyball, and swimming.
MAKE EVERY LAP COUNT
9. Each breath a swimmer takes has the potential to lengthen their time. In
competitions, the four strokes are freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and
butterfly.
The BSED department reigned supreme during the swimming competition. The
BSED is the champion of the following Female backstroke, Swimming Male
Relay Swimming, Female butterfly stroke, Swimming Male breast stroke ,
Swimming Male freestyle
TEAMWORK BRINGS HOMES TRIUMPH
BHSHM HOTELIERS wins the basketball tournament championship after
sweeping BSIT with a score of 73-67.
The BSIT took control early, leading by as many as 12 points in the first half, and
they were never really threatened until early in the 2nd quarter.
With Casul ensuring that the players were in order again and giving it their all
up until the very last second of the game, the BSHM managed to withstand the
enormous second-half comeback.
After that, the BSIT came as near as the fourth quarter, and they had a chance
to get even closer, but Casul once again saved the day with an outstanding
defensive play.
10. “Working together as a team is not always easy! Each team memberis dierent
and unique. We all have different strengths, weaknesses, personalities, and
experiences.
HOTELIERS HIT AND SPIKE ALL THE DEPARTMENT
One of the most eagerly anticipated parts of the intramurals is the volleyball
matches. Each participant must work skillfully and together as a team to
succeed in this sport. The competitive players and support teams both
pumped adrenaline into the multipurpose room.
The championship round was scheduled during the afternoon of the third
intramural day. The matchup between BSHM and BSIT for both men and
women served as the championship game. While they supported their
respective departments, the entire CPC and visiting alumni showed
cooperation and sportsmanship.
After the intense game, BSHM Department has crowned champions of all the
volleyball categories.
GO KICK IT FOR THE GOLD
After dominating the Sepak Takraw championship games, the BSED
department won every matchup against every other department in a row.
On March 16, 2023, the championship matches were played, and the medals
were presented and distributed the next day. First place went to the BSED
11. department, with the BSHM coming in second, BEED coming in third, and BSIT
coming in fourth
SERVE IT, SMASH IT, AND WIN IT
In support of their respective departments, badminton players from BSED,
BSHM, BEED, and BSIT descended upon the court this year. In addition to the
appropriate posture and eye-hand synchronization needed to hit the shuttle
cock properly, this sport also calls for ingenuity and technique to make the
opponent miss the shuttle cock.
This sport is contested in both singles and doubles every year. Each participants
can play either singly or in two-person teams. To determine which players win,
an elimination process is used.
To decide the best of the best, a championship match is played following the
elimination stages. The BSHM athletes, both male, and female, dominated the
competition and won every gold medal.
ALTHOUGH YOU MAKE A BAD START, YOU CAN ALWAYS HOPE FOR A WIN
Another furious game was going on at Cordova Sports Complex's side of the
bleachers, beyond the shouts and screams of the kids on the courts. Chess
players from each department competed in a match of wits and foresight in
an effort to win it all.
12. Both BSIT (Men Category) and BSHM (Women Category) received their titles as
representatives of their departments after placing in the Standard Chess and
Blitz Chess Championships, respectively.
THE POWER OF WORDS IN YOUR HANDS
You make the best of the tiles you draw in a game of Scrabble. The play
with the most points this turn may not always have the most long-term point
value.
All necessary equipment for playing in the 2023 Scrabble Players
Championship must be brought by competitors. if neither participant in a
game has access to the necessary equipment.
For winning the Scrabble competition this year in both the male and female
categories, the BSHM department gets awarded another set of Gold.
KEEP YOUR WRIST LOOSE
Table tennis began as a "parlour game," played by anybody with access to a
table, racquet, and ball, just like other games and sports. To become an expert
in the game of table tennis, you need to have a lot of knowledge about it.
In the singles competition, the male category of the BSHM won the gold medal,
the female category was won by BSIT as well as the mixed doubles
competition.

Winning and losing comes in cycle, neither is permanent”
