4. Create an environment to support a new Sophomore experience. We received a great compliment from the Emory project manager as follows: ‘VERY nice work of Andy & all the team. Quite amazing when we consider the project design schedule - it did require extreme attention in a condensed amount of time. Also, it was probably the easiest GMP reconciliation I have ever participated in’ JAM Client Contact: Julie Moran, AIA, LEED®AP Emory University | Planning, Design, and Construction Julie.a.moran@Emory.edu, 404-727-9750 1326 Pasadena Avenue NE, Atlanta GA, 30306 404-216-9601
5. 1326 Pasadena Avenue NE, Atlanta GA, 30306 404-216-9601 Oxford Library First Floor Renovations, Oxford GA $360K Project Cost including FFE At Oxford College A+ provided architectural support for a library renovation. The project involved consolidating one floor of stacks into a single bay of compact shelving. The ‘new space’ is to be used for an informal classroom and collaborative spaces. The main component of this idea is to test collaborative space design in preparation for the future design of their new library. We started with an interactive programming session that included students, professors, and library staff to help to define the following project goals: 1 Functional zoning. 2 Teaching space definition. 3 ‘Ask Desk’ location and function. 4 Computer stations and print hub definition. 5 Collaborative goals and support. 6 Furniture solutions. The overall goal of the project as established in the meeting was “ Creative Inspiration! Low Cost Excitement!” We received a great comment from the Emory project manager as follows: ‘The Oxford Library project has turned out amazing. You should be very proud of a job well done. The project serves as a terrific example of how a relatively modest budget can be used to transform a space and make it fresh and relevant. The library staff and Oxford community are thrilled with the results and I am confident the students will love it when they get to campus in the next couple of weeks. Congratulations on the completion of such a successful project.” Stuart Client Contact: Mr. Stuart Adler, AIA , Director, Emory Design and Construction, (404) 727—4794 stuart.adler@emory.edu
6. 1326 Pasadena Avenue NE, Atlanta GA, 30306 404-216-9601 Parish Hall Renovation, Basilica of Sacred Heart, Atlanta GA 20,000 SF Renovated, 1,500 SF New $2 M The Basilica Of The Sacred Heart Of Jesus has embarked on a project intended to upgrade their Parish Hall and first floor educational facilities and other selected improvements within the Rectory building. The work to the historic Church will all take place at the level below the church sanctuary. The Parish Hall upgrade involves removing the existing classrooms that are located adjacent to the southern windows, removing a line of center columns, and re-orienting the classrooms on the north side of the church to allow access from the courtyard. Key to the successful reorientation of the north classrooms is the enclosure of the existing courtyard with a skylight. This 15’ x 85’ space between Church and Rectory building will be enclosed at the lowest level. Vertically, the skylight is located just below the Sanctuary windows. It slopes away from the church toward the Rectory. The skylight is designed to be predominately supported on the Rectory and to “lightly touch” the Church. The skylight system and trusses will be painted a dark color to aid in minimizing their impact on the view from the court to the historic church. A+ and Rathje Interiors teamed with GC Humphries and Company on the project in a Design/Build team. Construction is scheduled to begin in early February. We received a great compliment from a member of the building committee as follows: “...It’s unusual to find an architect who is very creative in design but is equally strong in the practical applications for quality and economic construction….. Also one of the best architects I have dealt with in developing the needs of your customer. “ Arthur Brannon—Brannon Development Co.
