2. Presentation Plan
My plan for presenting my project will be on Youtube. I will create posts and have a link to it on
my Photography account on instagram. The account I will be posting it on features a lot of football
photos already so it fits the genre of the account and the themes. I already have several friends and
others who follow this. I will use screenshots and small clips to advertise this
The target audience I am hoping to attract is football fans, so introducing this on an account that is
already heavily football driven I think will be a good idea
3. My Reasons for the project
The main reason I have chosen what I have for my project is that covid is something very recent and it
changed the football scene the way nothing has before. It is the first time all football has been halted
since the world war. The reason I wanted to focus on the media side of football and how it was like
for them is because this is the industry I want to go in to and have a real interest and passion for, not
only this but I feel very little light is shown on these professionals who do so much to bring us the
best experience on our televisions and social media.
4. Locations
• Oakwell Stadium ( hopefully ) or MKM Stadium
- The main area of location is very depended on which match is more available and I can get clearance to
go to and record Greig ( main interviewee ) at work.
The red markings represent
the areas that I’ll mostly be
working in and around. I
know the MKM stadium a lot
better than the Oakwell
stadium. I know that there is
back room in the stadium
where I will be able to
conduct a quick visual
interview before the match
kicks off
Other than the interview a majority of the footage will come from filming him at work as well as
the other photographers and how they go about working in the stadium. So this will all take
place in the photography area around the pitch, also marked in red.
5. Locations
• My other locations for filming will be out of my control and down to the interviewees. As I am planning to
conduct digital interviews where they send me footage of them answering the questions I have sent them, there
place of filming will be down to them.
• The only other places I will be potentially filming will just be at home or in the college studio. But this is only the
off chance I need to film more. Any other location I am at for my project will be for editing and that will be at my
desk on college and on a laptop at home. So I don’t feel I need to delve into the locations and where it is and the
plan as they are all in college or at home and nowhere unfamiliar.
6. Kit Booking
• So far the kit I have requested from college has been quite minimal. I have kept it to equipment that I have used
in previous projects so that I know how to use them without rigorous tests and trials as my film date is at the
upcoming weekend. This means I don’t need to set aside days to try them out and can spend more time on the
project.
Kit that I have requested to book :
• A Camera – although I already have 1 having a second would be very useful for different shots
• A Microphone and wind cover – I don’t have a microphone and the place I am filming is outside so to be safe im
going to book the cover as well to be safe.
• A Tripod – although I know I have one, I am not sure where it is. If I am able to locate it then I wont need to take
the tripod with me and can give it back when I collect the equipment
7. Equipment
Microphone; the main use of the
microphone is for the interview, in my last
interview the microphone wasn’t working so
had to use the cameras built in microphone.
This really damaged the quality of my overall
end piece.
Tripod / monopod; The tripod itself will be most useful
whilst filming the interview. It allows the footage to look
a lot better has it helps to keep it still rather than hand
held. The monopod can also be used for the tripod but
will also allow more ease whilst following Greig around
his work day and how he operates
600D Camera; one of the two cameras I am going to take advantage of, one
of which will be used as the main camera for the interview ( on the tripod)
as well another camera ( on the monopod). The secondary camera will also
be the one used for filming around the stadium when I shadow Greig’s
work day.
550D Camera; This camera will more
than likely be used for the shadowing.
This is due to it having a phase
detection built in. This helps it to keep
focus when filming fast moving images,
hopefully this will allow the footage to
look a lot nicer whilst moving around
8. Personnel
Filming wise it will only be me as the footage which I need is simple, and I am capable of filming it all
by myself. However, personnel for the entire project will also consist of at least 3 interviewees.
Greig Cowie – Sports photographer working at Hull/Barnsley – Main Interviewee and shadowee (in person main
interview)
Mark Kerton – Interviewee for life before covid and how it affected his career. ( will be digital)
Daniel Briggs - Head of Media at Hull City ( will be digital)
9. Shot List
Shots Shot Type Explanation
1 - 10 An edited montage My opening will be a narrated
edited montage of sports
moments which correlate with
what I am talking about.
2 Wide shot The first shot of actual content will
be of Greig outside of the stadium
as I introduce him.
3-8 Tracking shot montage After a fade to black it will be a
short montage of Greig heading
towards the stadium and finished
with him setting up his equipment
9 Mid Shot The actual interview will be a mid
shot of Greig in front of the stand
10 Close up It will cut away to a close up of
Greig working on the mac he
carries around to be able to
upload photos during the game
10. Shot List
Shots Shot Type Explanation
11 Mid shot It will cut back to Grieg at the
stadium
12 Close up The next cutaway will be a close
up of Greig taking photos
13 Slow turn After he has taken the photos I
plan to have it look like it turns
onto the crowd as if that’s what he
was photographing*
14 Iphone side shot Instead it of cutting back to the
main shot, it will continue the
interview from a shot from my
phone. I really love the 0.5x zoom
the iphone offers
15 Mid Shot Cuts back to main shot as he signs
off.
*I would love to be able to video the game as he photographs it but EFL
rules and licensing means I am not able to do this
11. Schedule for Filming
My filming was to take place on the 2nd of April, this was decided as it was day that suited Greig
and one where he was able to get me clearance to come along with him. All though this is relatively
early within our schedule and timetable. It will do and I will get as many clips together and stick as
roughly to the slight plan I had already created.
Until the 11th of April I will carry on with my planning even though I will have already attained most
footage that I will be using and then after this date my time will be used editing together the
footage that I have filmed all the way up until the final hand in date or the beginning of evaluation
12. Filming Day Breakdown
Time Activity
8 Wake up and make sure all kit is packed for the shoot. While also making
sure battery on everything is charge.
9 Set off to go meet Greig at the highwayman café.
10 Leave Highway man café with Greig to go to Barnsley.
11 Travelling to Barnsley.
12 If still travelling discuss questions with Greig, if not find out what Greig has
to do at ground.
13 Film around ground and Greig travelling to stadium from where we park.
Arrive at ground and get checked in and ask Greig what is details are around
the day.
14 Film Interview.
15 Kick Off – begin filming cutaways of Greig working.
16 Continue filming cutaways – crowd and Greig working. Take some photos of
the game for promotional posts + my own.
17 Film Greig at the after match interviews and then pack up all kit
18 Set off back home.
14. Virtual Interviews
• Daniel Briggs.
• Dan was a contact of Greig's
that he has hooked me up
with to get some answers off.
15. Virtual Interviews
• Daniel Briggs
• After a week of not hearing
from Dan I was worried it
was going to be the same
result as I had with Mark,
however I received an email
letting me know he had
been ill for the last week
and this was the reason for
the delay
16. Virtual Interviews
• Daniel Briggs
• In the end I
received thee
interview from
Dan in the form of
a voice note.
17. Rough Video Structure
• Opening will be an edited montage explaining the importance of sports photography and how
influential football is around the world. It will be a series of iconic photos with a voice narration over
the top
• After this will be a intro introducing Greig as we follow him to his setup inside the stadium
• This will then cut to the main bulk interview which will have small intersections and cutaways
• After this will be an outro of Greig signing off and some credits, expressing my thanks to contributors
.
18. Structuring

Start End
A very simplified breakdown of how my project will be split into parts and a rough idea
of the length of each one.
19. Music
• From watching several away days videos, due to the fact they include some sort of travel montage
while also being football orientated. Although a lot of them used a large range of songs, I personally
think the ones that fit and suit the style the best are songs within the rock genre. This will be
something I look into while editing my footage, I think its hard to be able to pick out and use a certain
song until I have got and recorded the footage. This is because I feel like certain songs will much
better suit some footage compared to others. Until then I will just narrow it down to a base Rock
genre.
20. Facilities
• Oakwell Stadium – this will be were a majority the footage
will be filmed as the interview is here and most cutaways
will be of Greig working
• Studio – any additional pieces will more than likely be
filmed here
• Class Room – most editing will be done from the class
room desktops
• At Home
21. Sound
The majority of the sound will be natural and I have accepted I may not be able to get the most crystal
clear recording of the interview as we are conducting it in a live working environment. I would rather
have it be done inside the stadium and have a chance of risking sound quality rather in some back
room. Other sound I plan to use and put into my work will be songs that I can download as well as
noises from around the stadium. Whistles, players shouting, fans jeering and cheering.

24. Finance
In terms of finance it shouldn’t cost me anything other than that of usual daily expenses. Any
equipment which I plan to use will be items which I already own as well as borrowed from college to
use ( camera and microphone). Access to the stadium is through Greig so hasn’t cost me anything as
that is where he works and he has been as kind to offer me a lift there and back
25. Design
• Font choices for the title and the subheadings/location and names of interviewees
These are the two options for my title, I think I
currently prefer the second one ( Race Sport)
as it is a bit more thicker and I think it will
stand out as a title much more than just a
default font. The style is a sport style text so I
think that it also fits into the theme of the
project.
The first one (Football Attack) just feels too
comic book like and thin to be the main title
but at the same time it feels unique.
I think this is a very fitting subheading
font, its trim neat and isn’t
overwhelming or massively stands out. I
think pairing this with a type writer type
effect would work very well for the
locations and names of interviewees.
26. Risk Assessment
Risk Risk
Level
Solution
Car Accident 2 Sensible driving should be all that’s needed to avoid any chance of
a motor accident
The General Public 1 The public can be rather hostile, especially fans at football
matches. To keep safe I will try my best to keep my distance and
know when to leave a hostile situation
Becoming ill or injured 1 Not risking any contamination with food or sick people. As well as
not over doing any gym so I can try and reduce the chance of a
major injury or strain
Fatigue 1 Take breaks between shoots and shots. Keeping hydrated and
making sure I'm eating throughout the day
27. Questions
• A Small introduction about yourself
• How you got into the industry
• What was it like working before covid – restrictions atmosphere work load
• How did the pandemic affect your working life – change what you focused on, atmosphere
restrictions work load, enjoyment
28. Story board
I want to overlay the images that he takes from that day over
the top of
The title scene for the project I want to be overlayed onto
The front of the stadium that I am off to.
Due to two of interviews having to be done on zoom, I
am undecided on whether I want to have a visual video
call of the interview or just use a recorded sample
overlayed on some other footage
29. Story board Interview
For my interview I would like it to be pitch side. Similar to that
off MNF where they have pundits down by the pitch before
hand when players are warming up. Mine will be before the
players have arrived
The cutaways for the interview will be of Greig whilst hes
working. This will consist of shots of him taking photos and
uploading and editing said photos on his laptop.
30. Sourced Content
The sourced content that I want to use will all be clips of previous games or interviews from managers and players.
They will be used for the edited montage at the beginning. All the clips I use will correlate with what is being said
The opening monologue talks about how important fans are to the game and how without them the game felt
different and lacked their passion, so to really plead this case I want to find footage which shows off just how different
the game felt and how much they do bring to the matches
Most of my sourced content will be coming from Youtube, I will download this using youtube 2 mp4 or a similar
website. Its easy to use and the quality of the download is good. The only issue is I will have to do this at home
31. Editing
The editing will be very plain and simplistic as I think this is
what best suites the style of video I am wanting to create.
Although my main experiment was rotoscoping I came to the
decision that I did not think it suited what I was wanting to
create. The editing will be mostly cutaways and colour
correction.
In terms of similarity and inspiration for my choice around
how to edit this, there is no specific inspiration to my decision
just I see this in the rest of the genre. All the documentaries I
have watched before this have all had very simple editing and
don’t try to push the boundaries or break outside the box.
And the very few which I have seen try to be more complex, I
did not think worked well
32. Script for intro
Football is massive, it controls peoples lifes their emotions, their friends, their
business. And when covid started football stopped. We saw a slow halt on the
game as we knew it because of the lockdowns. Games stopped, fans weren’t
able to attend. The game is nothing without the fans, the emotions,
the energy the feel. We’ve seen how the pandemic affected us, the game, the
players but how about the ones that bring us the game. I want to find out
and to do so come with me to Oakwell stadium to speak to some of those
whos lifes were put into stand still
