1. Worcester College of Technology – The Development of an
E-Learning Academy
Worcester College of Technology project’s aim is to help the sector increase capability
and capacity to generate high quality blended learning through the innovative
development of new qualification framework and shared curriculum content for
training a new cadre of e-learning designers. This will be developed by a consortium
of twelve partners covering eight further education Colleges, a Sector Skills Council,
an Awarding Body, a Curriculum Development agency and a Web Designer Company
who will share expertise and co-create a new programme and occupational Sector
which will benefit learners, industry and the Sector to foster better learning through
technology.
E-learning is a growing industry in the education sector globally, yet there is a skills
gap in the UK for the design and development of high quality online products despite
a large demand from education and industry. The project will develop a new unit
based skills qualification programme for young people and adults who want to gain
either individual units of skills or a full qualification (Level 3 and 4 Certificates and
Diplomas).
The Sector will benefit from this project in two ways:
Once the qualification and curriculum content is developed by the consortium
each will be able to create regional E-learning Academies. These Academies
will be set up as learning companies.
Other Colleges will be able to join the consortium as a member organisation
and utilise the curriculum content and qualification framework to create their
own E-learning Academy.
