Joan Miró was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramist born in Barcelona in 1893. He was a leading surrealist artist known for simplifying forms into symbolic characters and objects placed against amorphous backgrounds with strong lines, dots, and other shapes. Throughout his career, Miró explored surrealist styles in various artistic mediums including paintings, etchings, sculptures, and more. He died in 1983 after developing an illness.

2. BIOGRAPHY.
● Joan Miro i Ferrá was born in Barcelona, in the
1893.
● He was painter, sculptor, engraver and
ceramist. He was considered one of the leading
representatives of surrealism.
● He studied trade, as her father wanted but he
always wanted to go to an art and painting
school.
● He had art lessons in the evenings.
● He was married in 1929 and he had an only
daughter.

● The First and the Second World War disrupted
many of his exhibitions.
● He died in 1983, he was very sick.

ARTIST.
● He looked for inspiration in fantasy,dream and
the irrational to create works.
● The simplification of forms make his characters
and objects symbolics.
● In his compositions the background hasn`t got
a lot of relevance amorphous amoeba
silhouettes with strong accentuated lines , dots,
stars, eyes etc. . ) that have some humorous
and fantastic, mixing the organic with the
geometric to represent reality.

to all artistic expressions experienced :
etchings, lithographs, watercolors, pastels ,
collages , painting on copper , sculpture,
theater sets and Rugs .
● The spatial distribution and juxtaposition of the
flat elements of pure color belong to the
influences of Cubism and Fauvism respectively,
showing great harmony to integrate different
vanguards in one style.
