FOR SUCCESS
MENTORING PROGRAMS
If you are a new immigrant, the Career Mentoring for
SUCCESS Program will bridge you to career success by
providing you with the information you need in your field
of expertise. Your mentor will not find you a job, but they
will provide you with information, support, and guidance
to jumpstart your professional career in Canada. You will
expand your knowledge about the key resources of your
profession, the specific pathways to credential assessment,
how to upgrade your education, and how to increase your
opportunities to access the “hidden” job market.
Research shows that new immigrants who participate in
employment mentoring programs are more likely to secure
employment related to their experience after participating
in a mentoring program. They are also more likely to find
employment in their field of work at a faster rate than
immigrants who don’t take part in mentoring programs.
(The results are in: Mentoring improves employment outcomes for skilled
immigrants, ALLIES Canada, 2013)
MENTORS
Are you an aspiring leader? Our workplaces and
professions need people like you. As a mentor to
an immigrant, you will have the opportunity to assist talented
newcomers to jumpstart their career in BC. If you would like
to share your expertise, then volunteering for the Career
Mentoring for SUCCESS Program is for you. You will enhance
your coaching skills and also have the opportunity to benefit
from learning about other cultures and how to build inclusive
workplaces.
MENTORING MODELS
The Career Mentoring for SUCCESS Program is designed
to adapt to and meet the needs of busy professionals
and newcomer immigrants. We offer choices for one-to-
one mentoring and group mentoring. Group mentoring is
