Founded in 2012 by Ed Steer, Niall Phelan and
Laurence Smith, Sphere have swiftly established
ourselves as the "go-to" recruiter for digital Media,
Marketing and Creative talent.

4. A little bit about our people
Our first employee, Ali Kennedy, joined us when we were two guys in a
basement. Ali consistently bills over £200K and leads and manages his own
team of 8, while playing a key role in helping shape and grow our business.
Our second hire, Joe Perry, more than doubled his previous best billing year in
recruitment (6 years’ experience). Joe made in excess of £12K in bonus on 3
separate months in 2014 and over £20K in one month in 2015. Joe now leads
a team of 3 people who recruit in his market in the UK and Europe.
Niomi Cowling, our first administrator now runs our marketing department.
Matt Demain joined Sphere from Gemini Search and has increased his billing
by over 75%. Matt is also now managing a team of 4.
Samantha Start joined Sphere from the Graduate Recruitment Bureau. Sam
launched Sphere Graduate Recruitment, was promoted twice in 2015 and
runs a team that will generate in excess of £500K in 2016.
Anton Greig joined Sphere from Eligo and more than doubled his billings in his
first year at Sphere. Getting promoted along the way….
Lara Sheldrake joined Sphere from Salt as our Senior Business Development
Manager and is now involved with our biggest spending accounts all around
the world.

9. Buddying, mentors and round
tables
• All of our consultants in the business, who join as “graduates”
or junior members of our team have a mentor – a senior
consultant – who takes them out for breakfast or lunch once
a month to offer guidance and support away from the desk
• If you join Sphere with more experience, you will be given a
buddy. Your buddy will have a similar level of experience to
you, be in another team, and will take you out for lunch,
breakfast, coffee or a beer when you join the business. There
main role is to help answer questions you may not want to
ask your manager and to help you get to know the business
and people outside of your team
• All of our senior consultants attend bi-monthly lunches with
our CEO
• We hire a private dining room, pick an important part of the
business, and give our senior consultants the chance to
share their feedback and ideas with Ed, over a few glasses of
wine and away from the office environment
