Objectives of Curriculum
A curriculum is a plan that is created to help students achieve their educational goals.
This is the only means of bringing about behavioural changes in the personality of the
children. The education system would lose its justification if curriculum was removed
from the educational process. A good curriculum is always the voice of the country's
aspirations and ideals. A good curriculum should have the following major goals:-

Fulfillment of national goals: The primary goal of education is to fulfil national
aspirations. Curriculum, in my opinion, is the heart of the educational process. If it is
excluded from the educational system, the nation will fail to achieve its goals. The
curriculum reflects both national and individual goals. Curriculum is the only means of
achieving individual and collective well-being. National goals are incorporated into the
curriculum and acquired through the instructional process.
Behavior modification: Curriculum causes behavioural changes in individuals'
personalities, making them capable of social adjustment. Individuals who are socially
adjusted contribute to social stability. They play an important role in national
development. Individuals who change their behaviour prove useful both individually and
collectively. Curriculum is the only means by which students can participate in
productive and socially acceptable activities.
Understanding the universe's mysteries: Students gain an understanding of the
universe's mysteries through the curriculum. The curricular content is used to teach the
next generation about the fundamental laws of the universe. This knowledge of the
universe's facts paves the way for understanding the universe's mysteries. Every
system of education produces the ability of discovering the facts of the universe in its
students. A nation's understanding of the universe cannot compete with that of other
nations around the world. The education goal of the universe's mysteries can only be
met if these facts and mysteries are included in the curriculum developed for various
levels of education.
Continuity in educational activities includes: One of the primary goals of curriculum
is to achieve integration and continuity among educational activities. Curriculum is
created in accordance with educational goals. These objectives can only be met if all
educational activities are coordinated, balanced, and integrated. Curriculum integrates
all educational activities, making the learning process more effective and long-lasting.
The curriculum for the lower levels of education serves as a foundation for the
development of the curriculum for the higher levels of education. The continuity of
experiences, observations, and information is maintained if previous learning
experiences are linked with newer ones.
Adaptability to changing needs: It is the responsibility of the curriculum to adapt
individuals to the changing needs of society. Man is naturally inquisitive, and as a result
of this natural tendency bestowed by God, he discovers new worlds. Because of his
intellect and insight, man has conquered many of the universe's secrets. These new
discoveries can only be preserved if they are included in a country's curriculum. When
new facts and discoveries become part of the curriculum, they become more in line with
current needs. Life and society are ever-changing. Life's requirements are constantly
changing. If we want to make life more in tune with changing needs, new changes
should be incorporated into curriculum content. Curriculum will be able to meet the
needs of individuals and society in this manner.
Individual and societal harmony: No society can exist without the harmony of the
individual and the society. Without a doubt, the educational process is necessary for the
development of an individual's personality. At the same time, the curriculum teaches
students to respect social values in order to strengthen the social fabric. The conflict
between an individual's aspirations and those of society leads to social instability.
Individuals will become frustrated, resulting in a schism between the individual and
society. If an individual is irritated, he or she will distort the social fabric. This situation is
detrimental to the harmony of the individual and society.

development of an individual's personality. At the same time, the curriculum teaches

curriculum's responsibility to maintain the expected harmony between individual and
society.
Values promotion: All world societies set the goals of their national educational
systems while keeping social values and needs in mind. Education's ultimate
destination is determined by its objectives. Curriculum is the only means by which the
educational process can be completed. In this regard, educational objectives serve as a
lighthouse, and curriculum serves as a means to an end. When the goals of national
education are established, a practical programme is developed. This programme is
known as curriculum, and it is responsible for the process of promoting values.
Self-realization: An individual must have a reason for living. He or she has his or her
own identity while also being a member of a society. He or she has the right to grow as
an individual while living in society. He or she is not built for society. However, he or she
is nothing without a society. Curriculum provides its services in this location. It provides
individuals with such opportunities and activities that allow them to reach the goal of
self-realization. Self-realization is a mental state in which an individual considers himself
or herself to be a successful and productive member of society. Every child is subjected
to a variety of experiences, observations, and events. Then he or she becomes aware
of himself or herself and gains a comprehensive understanding of society. This
comprehension of the individual leads to social stability.
Personality development on all levels: The curriculum is in charge of both individual
and collective development. For the successful execution of this responsibility, the
curriculum provides students with skills and excellences that open up new avenues of
advancement in various fields of life. A well-balanced and successful curriculum fosters
the development of all aspects of human personality. This holistic development is the
primary responsibility of the curriculum and the primary goal of education. To achieve
this specific goal of curriculum and education, there should be a comprehensive
element in all of the skills, excellences, and activities included in the curriculum.
Curriculum is the heart of the educational process, and overall development cannot be
expected without curriculum that is compatible with societal needs.
Reconstruction of society: Society is a living organism. The society is undergoing a
series of ongoing changes. Some desirable and undesirable cultural attitudes become
part of society as a result of these social changes. Because of advances in science and
technology, new things are becoming a part of culture. Because of the inclusion of these
elements in social settings, social attitudes are changing. The survival of society is
dependent on the harmony of social values and social needs. This is referred to as
social reconstruction, and it is the primary function of curriculum.
Individuality development: One of the primary goals of the curriculum is the
development of individuality. Every person is born with some distinct and unique
abilities. These abilities are developed through the educational process, and the
curriculum ultimately aims to develop the individuality of the individuals. Curriculum
consists of activities that expose and develop individuals' abilities so that they can
provide valuable services for the welfare of the nation and humanity.
Globalization entails: Curriculum enables a person to compete with global needs.
Science and technology have completely altered the global landscape. This world has
now become a global village. Local and limited thinking are incapable of meeting
international demands. Survival requires competing with the demands of the world.
Curriculum provides important services in this regard. It prepares individuals to deal with
modern needs while maintaining their individuality on a global scale.
