2. About Streams and Valleys
Streams and Valleys are a nonprofit that began in the 1950s after the flooding and levee
construction that left the Trinity River unusable in Tarrant County. Since then, volunteers have
planted more than 8,000 trees and added more than 40 miles of trails adjacent to the river. Recent
projects that have benefited from Streams and Valleys include a pedestrian bridge, to improved
neighborhood access to Trinity Trails, and annual daffodil planting to beautify the river. The
organization seeks to increase urban recreation and river improvements through volunteerism
and fundraising with the help from the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant Regional Water District,
Trinity River Vision Authority, and Fort Worth Parks and Community Services.
