Randy has volunteered at the Sandusky State
Theatre for 16 years. She helps organize the
volunteers and deals with all aspects
pertaining to the volunteer organization as a
whole. She ushers, takes tickets, decorates,
distributes show posters to area businesses,
and helps in the administration office. Most
importantly, she has helped rebuild the
structure of volunteering. The Theatre’s
Volunteer Coordinator shared that he could
not succeed without her!
Randy loves the theatre—a great historical
landmark. She remembers being there a lot
as a child with her grandmother. Her
grandmother would be across the street at a
dress shop and Randy would watch movies at
the Theatre! Her favorite part of helping the
State Theatre is meeting people and making
new friends, and as a perk, volunteers can
watch shows and entertainers. She believes it
is important to keep your mind and body
active, and pass on your knowledge to help
someone else.
She and her husband Dennis have been
married 42 years and have two children: Scott
(Bayview) and Amy Thompson (Somerset,
PA); and three grandsons: Jake (11), Drew (9),
and Carter (7).
The mission of The Sandusky State Theatre is to provide artistic,
educational and social value to our community.
Since 1928, The Sandusky State Theatre has been a regional
attraction and continues to operate as a top live entertainment
destination for Erie County and beyond. The 1500-seat theatre has
served the community in many capacities, functioning as a Vaudeville
theatre, movie palace, and world-class performing arts center.
Our legacy, as a non profit organization and historic landmark, has
been providing world class entertainment for the past five
generations.
More than 35,000 people attend shows or special events at the
Theatre every year, contributing an estimated $500,000 to the local
economy.
