been awarded a 2016 Rockland County Executive Historic Preservation Merit Award.
Award: Adaptive Use
(For successfully rehabilitating a property to a state of utility through repair or sympathetic alterations that
makes an efficient new use possible while preserving those portions or features of the property that are
significant to its historical, architectural, and cultural values).

The awards will be presented at a ceremony and country supper on Sunday, May 15, 2016
(4:00 – 7:30pm) on the grounds of the Historical Society in New City (The Jacob
Blauvelt Homestead). We are delighted to offer you two complimentary tickets to the
event.
The awards, presented during National Historic Preservation Month kick off Rockland
County Preservation week in May. They recognize outstanding historic preservation
efforts in Rockland County.
The Historical Society of Rockland County is a museum and educational organization
dedicated to engaging diverse audiences in a dynamic dialogue about the rich historical
heritage of the County. Part of this mission is to promote, through programs, services and
example, the preservation, restoration, continuing and adaptive use of the historic
buildings and sites in the County. Our preservation awards program, now in its 26th
year,
has presented over 75 awards to individuals, businesses, municipalities and non-profit
organizations. It raises awareness in our historic county of the importance of preserving
our heritage sites and helps to encourage others to preserve history in our community.
