2. • Industrial Sector has the potential to contribute significantly to
the economy by creating jobs, stimulating the development of
other sectors like agriculture and services, increasing foreign
exchange earnings and modernising the lives of the people.
• In 1950, population was 36 crore and contribution of industries in
GDP(Gross Domestic Product) was around 11%.With present
population of 142.8 crore, contribution of the industries in GDP
has risen to approx. 31%
• During early 10-15 years of our independence , industries were
established in/around cities/towns by industrialists themselves.
3. • In order to provide basic infrastructures and facilities following
organisations were established by the state : -
UPSIDC – 1961 GIDA – 1989 Gr. NOIDA – 1991
NOIDA – 1976 SIDA – 1989 YEIDA – 2001
• Keeping in view 3 key elements of sustainable industrial developments i.e.
(a) Environmental protection
(b) Economic development
(c) Social Development
To provide modern infrastructure and facilities for industries, “Integrated
Infrastructure and IndustrialTownships” are developed to increase efficiency
and competitiveness in this era of globalisation.
4. DifferentTypes of Integrated Infrastructure and Industrial townships are/being
developed to meet out different requirements and purposes. Few are :
(A) To promote certain product oriented industries – like
(i) Mega Food Parks :To provide a chain of modern infrastructure facilities
including collection, processing , cold chain etc.
Eg: Mega Food Park Baheri (100 Acres)
(ii) Leather Park, Agra : For finished leather goods/footwear industries and
for R&D facilities(in 283 acres)
(iii) Perfume Park, Kannauj : For distillation , extraction and manufacturing
of perfume. It will have international perfume
Museum. Raw materials like Sandal woods,
flowers, Attar Base etc easily available in
region (100 Acres)
5. (iv) Apparel Park (TDS City & NOIDA) : for manufacturing , R&D and apparel
training institute. Apparel Parks are at Delhi border attracting garments
units of nearby areas.
(v) PM Mitra Park (Lucknow & Hardoi) :
* PM Mega IntegratedTextile Region and Apparel Park (PM Mitra Park)
* Five F’s : Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign
*To provide integrated large scale industrial infrastructure facilities for
entire value-chain
(B) Theme Parks : In general for amusement industries
(C) SEZ (Moradabad & NOIDA) :
• Economic Enclave to cater overseas market called Special Economic
Zones(SEZ)
• Delineated duty free enclave with more liberal economic laws different from
the rest of the country with direct/indirect tax benefits.
6. (D) Industrial Corridors (AKIC) :
• Futuristic industrial cities to provide multi-modal connectivity with “plug
and play” infrastructure for manufacturing and other services.
• AKIC : (I) Agra Kolkata Industrial Corridor being developed in a band of 150
to 200 km on either side of the Eastern DFC (Eastern Dedicated
Freight Corridor)
(II) EDFC traverses route of 1840 km in 6 states in 2 segments – from
Dankuni (West Bengal) to Khurja (UP) & from Khurja to
Ludhiana (Punjab)
(E) IMC at (Agra & Prayagraj) :
• Integrated Manufacturing Clusters
• IMCs are regional concentrations of related industries consisting of
companies, suppliers, service providers and government agencies etc
• IMC Agra (1050 Acres), IMC Prayagraj (1140 Acres)
7. DevelopmentOf Integrated Infrastructure & Industrial
Township

industrial authority and different departments like revenue
departments like revenue department, PWD, Irrigation, Pollution
Control Board, Power corporation, Bridge Corporation and other
departments as needed makes recommendations and then final

evaluate the likely effects of activities (mainly human) on the environment
(Air, water, noise, land & biological) and social economical, cultural and
human health components.

within 15km including rivers, minors, Nala, Natural Parks, sanctuary,
forests and religious areas etc are covered.
-EIA report and EMP(Environmental Management Plan) is put up before
SEAC(State level Expert Appraisal Committee) and after its recommendations
SEIAA (State level Environment Impact Assessment Authority) issues E.C.
