Objective
To extend my knowledge in the Mechanical Engineering Technologist field and to become a great asset
to your company for a long time.
Summary
Mechancial Technologist with almost 4 years of experience in the HVAC industry and plastic injection
molding industry. In the HVAC industry spent a lot of time in the field setting up, calibrating, testing and
balancing airflow. In the plastic injection molding industry developed 3D models and drawings for a
variety of applications including sheet metal, fixture and custom molds. Specific knowledge/skills
include:
: CAD Software: Solidworks, AutoCAD
: Office and Database Software: MS Office
: HVAC Precision Instrumentation
: Government Security Clearance: Level I (Reliable)
Experience
Maxima Technical Services
Sept 2013 – April 2016
Komtech Enterprises Limited
Sept 2012 – Aug 2013
• Worked as a HVAC testing and balancing technician
• Worked alone all over Ottawa testing and balancing airflows
and pressures according to engineering specifications
• Learned to understand and measure many different HVAC
systems
• Worked with many control systems to balance VAV (Variable
Air Volumes) boxes and FPBs (Fan Powered Boxes)
• Learned to understand and evaluate 2-D engineering floor
plans
• Worked inside chemistry labs testing and balancing the
exhaust fume hoods used to ensure no dangerous chemical
vapors spread in to the room
• Used delicate measuring instruments daily to complete the
precise measurements needed to achieve suitable data for
each job
• Worked in the engineering department of an Ottawa based
plastic injection molding company
• Spent a large amount of time on Solidworks designing
anything from sheet metal projects to intricate customer
requested parts
• Worked with the quality assurance department measuring
hundreds of parts using vernier calipers, a CMM (Coordinate
Measuring Machine), pin gages, radius gages, and an optical
comparator
• Developed quotes for potential customers using the IQMS
systems
• Helped design, develop, and purchase End-of-Arm systems to
fit on to robots we already had in place over the molding
machines
2. Algonquin College
Sept 2009 – Apr 2012
Skills learned:
- create, modify, and improve mechanical engineering designs
using conventional and computer-based methods;
- perform engineering tests that support product development;
- use computer-aided engineering (CAE) software/systems to
conduct engineering design and analysis (Solidworks and
AutoCAD);
- design and troubleshoot automated control systems;
- design specialized jigs and fixtures using Solidworks;
- analyze problems involving machine design, fluid dynamics,
thermodynamics, HVAC, and heat transfer;
- construct and design intricate pneumatic, electro-pneumatic,
and hydraulic systems.
Special Project:
• Worked as a team of four students, creating and testing a
custom design project for Transport Canada
• The project was created to provide an exact reference and
measure of the location of control pedals (gas, brake, clutch) of
various vehicles
• Created a device that had to be portable, consistent, rugged,
and easy to use
• Designed the device using an assembly of many different
parts on Solidworks
• Provided a 40 page report on the project detailing all designs
and tests
• Presented twice to industrial partners, teachers, and peers on
the contents of our project to date
