6. Additional Skills / Training
I have extensive experience using Microsoft operating systems & Microsoft Office packages, SAP, Easy
DMS, AutoCAD and Visio packages. I also adhere to departmental and organisational working practices. I
understand and can read Drawing Packages, CMTR Paperwork, NDE Reports, Hydrostatic Testing
Inspection / Reports, Heat Treatment Inspections / Charts (working knowledge), Radiographic
Inspections / Films (working knowledge), Welding Procedures and Weld Maps / Sketches, NCR
Documentation and Process, Calibration Certification, As Built Documentation, Product Release
Inspections, Internal / External Audit Involvement, Design Reports and other types of documentation.
Throughout my career, I have gained a wide-ranging expertise in the use & calibration of inspection
equipment and have a keen eye for detail as a result. I also like to be involved in a more hands-on
capacity if the opportunity arises.
I have an excellent telephone manner and conduct myself in a proper manner during internal / external
meetings, which is a direct result from my involvement with diverse groups throughout my career.
Training received at Clyde Union Pumps includes, but is not limited to, SAP, Visio, Pump Fundamentals,
Dealing with Difficult People, SharePoint, Nuclear Safety Culture, Commercial Grade Dedication &
10CFR.
Personal Statement
I have an extremely high work ethic with a willingness to learn as shown by moving to the Nuclear Industry
of engineering late in my career. I work to and set targets for those who I manage or deal with in my
working week. I expect a certain level of professionalism from those I work with and give back the same. I
have no room in my career for timewasters or people who are of a similar ilk. I can be firm when required
however when meeting with clients or internal groups, there is always an element of compromise in order
to complete contractual requirements or looking for the best way forward.
I put emphasis on the quality control requirements in my industry and the QMS System is paramount to
achieving goals. ‘Without a quality product, you cannot have a healthy order book’ is generally how I
perceive the role of the businesses I have worked in. To this end, my main focus as a Project Manager is
to make sure the product we despatch adheres to approved quality plans, meets applicable codes and
standards and all available lifetime record package documentation is available prior to gaining a quality
release from customers, all in line with contractual specifications.
I am prepared to work outside working hours and indeed do so on a regular basis for no financial benefits.
I travel throughout the UK and Europe on a regular basis for client meetings and occasionally the Far East
with current contracts in Japan, whether commercial or engineering related or general ‘kick-off’ meetings. I
hold a full UK Driver’s license.
Hobbies
My main hobby is reading novels, sci-fi, crime and biography types. I also enjoy watching sports, football,
tennis, car/bike racing and boxing. Mainly my time is taken up with being a father.
