This experiment aims to test the effect of alcohol consumption on human reaction time using a double-blind crossover design. 20 subjects (10 male, 10 female) will complete an online reaction time test after consuming either an alcoholic or placebo beverage. Their reaction times will be recorded and statistically analyzed using chi-squared tests to determine if alcohol significantly impacts reaction time compared to the placebo. Appropriate ethical procedures like informed consent, anonymity, and debriefing will be followed.

4. Reaction time is defined as the time elapsed between the presentation of a sensory stimulus and the subsequent behavioural response. It will be measured in seconds, after the performance of a short reaction time test. Null Hypothesis: There will be no significant difference between the results; measured reaction time in seconds, gained from the control group (placebo) and the experimental (alcohol consumption) group. Any differences will be due to chance factors. Alternative Hypothesis: There will be a significant difference from the results; measured reaction time in seconds, gained from the control group (placebo) and the experimental (alcohol consumption) group.

If the calculated X² value, at the usual set significant level of value of 0.05, when compared to the tabulated values, exceeds the value, then it can be said that the results are significantly different from the expected. The null hypothesis can be rejected and the alternative hypothesis accepted. This statistical analysis will be carried out on both the male and female data separately.
