2. Every morning the Chandler family takes turns
praying. They pray together in the car before they
leave to start their day.
3. This morning it is the the youngest girl’s turn to
pray. She really didn’t want to pray. While still in
the house, she looked at her mom and said, “Mom I
don’t want to pray this morning.”
4. Mama said to her, “Why don’t you want to pray? It’s
your turn to thank God for all our blessings and ask
him to guide and protect us throughout our day.”
5. The other children looked at their sister in
disbelief. They couldn’t believe that she would be
so bold to ask the question she had ask.
6. All they knew was that their mama always looked to
the Lord in prayer. She prayed before bed, she
prayed before they ate, and at the start of their
day they took turns praying.
7. Praying was what they did. Besides the fact that
they knew they had better not question their mama.
If she said it, then they did it.
8. The children’s mama continued, “You see baby, God is
our creator. When we pray to him it’s like a phone
call to him to tell him things.”
9. The youngest daughter exclaimed, “What if I don’t
want to tell him things Mama? I don’t want to tell
everyone everything.”
10. Mama laughed, “Baby girl, God is not everyone. He is
our creator. There is no secret you have that God
doesn’t already know.”
11. “When God created us he did so out of love. He gave
us purpose. Our purpose includes being obedient,
praying and worshiping.”
12. “We pray to say thank you for all the wonderful
blessings that God has given us,” Mama explained.
“God has blessed us to buy a home, a vehicle, and so
much more.”
13. The youngest girl said, “We always say thanks for
the food we eat mama. But mama, you buy the food.”
14. Mama said, “I’m able to provide and buy for you
because God provides for us all. My job is a
blessing from God. I work for schools when you are
in school so I don’t miss out on time with you all.”
15. “I really enjoy spending time with you mama,” the
middle child said. “I enjoy shopping and playing
games during family night,” she continued.
16. “Me too,” said the oldest daughter. “God has blessed
us with a place to stay, food to eat, and wonderful
family and friends
17. “As you girls go throughout your school day, I want
you to think about all the blessing that God has
given you. Tonight at dinner I want you all to tell
me what you came up with,” Mama exclaimed.
18. Today was honors and awards day at school. The
oldest daughter was very upset because she didn’t
make the Honor Roll. But she said a quiet pray and
thanked God for the ability to be able to learn.
19. She was very grateful that even though she hadn’t
made the Honor Roll her younger sister did. She
didn’t envy her. She was proud of her. She forgot
she had won 3rd place in the science fair. She
realized she had so much to be thankful for.
20. Later that evening when the family made it home, the
children were so eager to share what they were
grateful for and what they wanted to pray for.
21. After dinner was prepared and ready to eat, the
family came together. They said grace for the food
and begin to discuss their day.
22. Mama was so proud to hear the wonderful things the
girls were grateful for. They all expressed what
they wanted to pray about. Mama’s heart was full.
