POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Process Technician
Position Type: Full Time
Location: Albury Nonwovens Mill
Manager: Asset Leader
Supervisor: Crew Coordinator

JOB SCOPE:
The Kimberly-Clark Australia Nonwovens plant is situated in Albury on the Victorian and
NSW border and is the only nonwoven facility in Australia.
The remuneration system is based on skills acquisition together with a component for
performance. As a result, training and development of the workforce is a high profile activity
at the Mill.
The incumbent will be expected to work under direction to assist in reviewing a range of
operating practices, recommending options as appropriate and implementing improved
systems as agreed.
The Mill’s organisation is structured on the team concept with the production teams being
developed as high performance semi-autonomous work teams. This work environment
requires a participative management approach. All of the incumbent’s work in training and
manufacturing systems will thus need to support this approach and will be done in an
environment of consultation and facilitation to assist in the review process and to enable
recommendations to be made on relevant issues.
The Albury Mill is relatively small. As a result, team members often support one another in a
broad range of skills in which they are willing to contribute. The incumbent will be involved in
a wide range of support issues for their team, as well as the Production Manager and other
support team members as required, including human resource support, Mill problem solving
and document/procedure preparation. This aspect presents an opportunity not present in
larger operations.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks:
Trainee through to level 3
 Operation of Nonwovens (Spunbond / SMS) line.
 Operation of Nonwoven (Meltblown) line.
 Operation of Nonwoven material handling systems
 Operation of Waste recycling equipment.
 Maintenance and servicing of machinery.
 Quality Control - Sampling and testing of Nonwoven materials
 Forklift / Warehouse activities
 Record keeping and reporting
 Workplace Housekeeping
Level 4 to Coordinator
 Management of day to day crew team members.
 Management of crew leave, time sheets and absences
 Complete a summary of shift activities.
 Act as management representatives after hours.
Qualifications
 Drivers Licence
 Forklift Licence
 First Aid
 Electrical / Mechanical background
Skills / Experience:
 Ability to work in a Team environment
 Experience working in factory environment
 Ability to work rotating shifts
 Planning, Organising and problem solving abilities
 Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP
 Operation of high speed Program Logic Controlled (PLC) process equipment.
 Mechanical Aptitude
Performance Goals
 Contribute towards a zero injury workplace.
 Complete all required training as prescribed in the training Matrix.
 Attend all scheduled shift meetings
 Comply with agreed site Enterprise Agreement.

Responsibilities:
Trainee through to level 3
 Safety
o ensure the safety of all workers (self, employees, contractors & visitors)
o understanding workplace policies and procedures
o participate in health and safety training
o communicate any health and safety concerns to the appropriate personnel,
e.g. coordinator or health and safety representative
o participate in safety matters and decisions
o ensure the safe operation of all machinery by recognising and initiating
corrective action on all possible safety hazards.
o Ensure all isolation procedures are adhered too.
 Communication
o Communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise, prompt and
constructive manner to all team members as well as others who have a need
to know.
o Contribute to the team based environment by being responsive and sensitive
to other team member’s needs and by contributing on a daily basis to team
morale and development.
 Quality
o Conduct sampling and testing of nonwoven materials.
o Apply the principles of the Quality Management Process (and Run-to-Target)
in all aspects of the job.
o Ensure that the relevant process corrective actions are taken in order that all
our products conform to finished product specifications.
 Training
o Develop and apply the requisite skills required to operate Mill equipment in a
team environment to progress to at least the minimum skill of Level 3.
 Maintenance / Housekeeping
o Involvement in the day-to-day and preventative maintenance of Mill
equipment.
o Responsible for the ongoing housekeeping practices of the entire work area to
enhance safety and cleanliness and instigate Mill audit corrective actions to
address housekeeping issues.
o Report defective equipment to coordinator to initiate required action.
 Continuos Improvement
o Ensure that manufacturing costs are minimised via the efficient utilisation of
Mill resources.
o Present ideas that would enhance Mill operation.

Responsibilities:
Level 4 to Coordinator
 Safety
o encouraging workers to participate in health and safety training
o consulting with workers to address any health and safety concerns they may
have;
o communicating any health and safety concerns to the appropriate personnel,
e.g. senior management or a health and safety representative
o providing feedback to workers on the outcomes of their concerns
o making sure that workers participate in safety matters and decisions
o understanding and enforcing workplace policies and procedures
 Communication
o Complete shift report documenting all relevant details.
o Provide professional communication style to all personnel.
o Request additional support for significant machine upsets.
o Attend Coordinator meetings as required.
o Liase with the Asset manager as required.
o Complete annual appraisals on all direct reports and implement appropriate
actions.
 Quality
o Review Test results and machine changes that may be required during the
shift
 Training
o Initiate and monitor training progress.
o Provide mentors for trainees as required.
o Provide guidance and assistance for assessments.
 Maintenance / Housekeeping
o Assign all SAP Preventative Maintenance tasks and closed out upon
completion
o Report defective equipment and Complete SAP work requests as required.
o Assign all required Housekeeping activities
 Continuos Improvement
o Champion crew ideas from conception to completion
