2. think
In my career (HOTEL AND RESTAURANT
ADMINISTRATION), an internship is obligatory in the last
semester.
Internships are not paid. At the hotel where I did my
800 hr internship I even had to pay for parking!
Most of the students that I know end up finding a job
in the same place of the internship or through a
person they´ve met at the internship, or through
people they know
I found a job through a woman I met at my internship.
I´m happy because it´s well payed and related to my
career.
I started working right after finishing the internship, I
wish I had more time (between end of internship and
start of job)... I need to study for my final exams and
now I don´t have time, I work from 9 to 6 and after
that I take a class (3rd. language)
When students can´t find a job (real job), they end up
working in a call center (there are many jobs there)

3. THINK
AFRAID: I might delay my
graduation because of
delaying my final exams
HAPPY: I found this job that
pays well, and where I can
apply what I have learned.
It is worth not having the
time to study for exams
CONFUSED: on one side I
love my job on another I
wish I could study before
finding a real job
A real” job is one that is related to the
area of my studies.
It is important to find a job that not only
pays well, but that is related to my expertise
and studies.
It will be hard to study for finals because I
don´t have a lot of time
It is important to do my finals so that I can
graduate
Having done the internship was a very
useful experience, to learn and to find a job
Internships should be paid

“seniors” in Guatemalan Private
Universities need a way to increase their
chances of passing their final exams
soon after finishing their last year of
studies, because many students delay
doing their finals, do very poorly, or end
up not doing them because they start
working right after finishing their last year
of studies, and they don´t dedicate
enough time to the process of preparing
for the final exams.
