2. WHAT IS THE BOND?
 BOND: IS AN ATTRACTION BETWEEN ATOMS THAT
FORMS CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES.
 Chemical bonds are the forces that hold together in the
molecules forming the compounds

3. TYPES OF BONDS :
 IONIC BONDS:
 Ionic bonds occurs between
metal and non metal.
 In the ionic bond there is
complete transfer of electrons
from the metal giving cation to
nonmetal giving anion

COVALET BOND :
in covalent bonding non
metals share electrons .
There can be double bonds
in CO2 ,and triple bonds in
N2 .

5. Cont.:
 Co-ordinate bond:
 This is similar to covalent
bond, but the shared pair
of electrons is donated by
the partner atom.

6. Cont.:
 HYDROGEN BONDS:
 This can be illustrated in
water molecule.
 The molecular formula of
water is H2O, the oxygen
is more negative than
hydrogen.
