• Apulia(Puglia) to its north and east
• Calabria to the south

”Potenza”.
• But it is divided into two
provinces namely:
• -POTENZA
• -MATERA

• One of these is:
• THE TEMPLE OF HERA
• Which can be found at Metaponto,
a province of Matera

• THE CASTLE OF MELFI
• Which can be found at the upper part of the region
• one of the most important medieval castles in
Southern Italy
8. • In Basilicata we can also find the famous:
• SASSI DI MATERA
• Which can be found at the province of
Matera, Basilicata.
• The Sassi di Matera (meaning "stones of Matera")
are ancient cave dwellings in Italy.

• HORACE
• Quintus Horatius Flaccus.
• He is known in the English-speaking world
as Horace, was the leading Roman lyric
poet during the time of Augustus. .

• Lucia Lauria Vigna
• She was an Italian supercentenarian who, at the age of
113 years and 116 days, was the oldest person in
Europe
• And the 9th oldest person in the World
• She lived in Pietrapertosa, Potenza.

• Raffaele Nigro
• He is One of the great and famous Italian journalist
at all times.
• He was also a great writer of his time.

• meaning ‘little ears’ which is handmade and most
often accompanies vegetable dishes.

made in the region
• One of these is the delicious:
• Miscuglio
• traditional pasta served with
local ‘cacioricotta’ cheese and strips of peppers.

• DOC WINE
• Aglianico, the name of the original grape, is a corruption
of the word "Hellenic" or Greek.
• the quality of it is such that it ranks at the forefront
among the best known and appreciated Italian reds.
