This document summarizes a study on combining ability analysis in early duration maize inbred lines. Ten diverse inbred lines were crossed in a half diallel design and evaluated for various traits. General combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) effects were estimated. The study found significant GCA and SCA effects for all traits, indicating both additive and non-additive gene action. Certain parents like KDM-332A showed desirable GCA effects for early maturity and yield. Several crosses exhibited significant positive SCA effects for traits like plant height, ear traits, yield and its components. The best parents and crosses identified can be used in breeding programs.
