Distance technologies allow students to learn using technology even when not in the same physical room as the instructor. Effective distance learning requires carefully designed instruction, visualization of concepts, support systems, interaction between students and instructors, and assessment related to learning outcomes. While separated by geography and time, distance education can be as effective as traditional in-person instruction when the design, development and delivery of instruction is properly implemented.

Some ways to know that it is effective is
training in effective instructional strategies is
critical for teachers of distant learners; it should
be carefully designed and developed before
instruction begins; visualization of ideas and
concepts, adequate support systems must be in
place, interaction between the instructor and
the student and last but least assessment
should be designed to relate to the specific
learning outcomes.

even restructure, education, but only if it is possible to
make the experience of the distant learner as
complete satisfying and acceptable as the experience
of the local learner.

Distance education specialist should strive to
understand technology and technological
approaches that make the experiences of
distant and local learners positive and
equivalent. They should strive to use more
hands on things in learning to allow more
learning in the younger generation so we can
continue to venture out of traditional settings.
