  5. 5. Defining Distance Education What is distance education or distance learning? Discuss the definitions you found with your team Distance education is an formal process and it must have an environment. Moreover, distance education must include an instructor to deliver the content. However, distance learning is informal learning enviromnent because the learner can learn from different sites or from any person in the web or face to face.
  6. 6. Defining Distance Education What is distance education or distance learning? Clarify the definitions using the information you found in Wikipedia and other sites. Distance learning, sometimes called e-learning, is a formalized teaching and learning system specifically designed to be carried out remotely by using electronic communication. But distance Education is a field of education that focuses on the pedagogy, technology, and instructional system designs that aim to deliver education to students who are not physically "on site" in a traditional classroom or campus. 7. 7. Defining Distance Education Distance education or distance learning? Add your own point of view here Distance education: It is formal form of education that aims to teach and deliver the education to student who are separated from the teacher physically. In our view we called it distance education not distance learning because it is a systematic process that include institution, instructor, communication tools, resources and students .
  8. 8. Defining Distance Education History of distance education and technology (old technology) The history of distance education could be tracked back to the early 1700s in the form of correspondence education, but technology-based distance education might be best linked to the introduction of audiovisual devices into the schools in the early 1900s The 1940s saw great interest in television by educators but little action (Adams, 1958), and by 1948 only five U.S. educational institutions were involved in television with Iowa State being the first on the air
