2. The camera I end up using to film the trailer should
produces a good quality image and should be simple to use
with all the appropriate functions. To ensure the camera is
right for the job, I have tested two cameras; a Canon EOS
Rebel T3 (with a standard Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
IS STM lens) and a Panasonic HC-V100 camcorder.
Canon Panasonic
3. Overall, I found that even though the Panasonic is
designed specifically for filming, I preferred the
Canon camera which is usually used more for
photography. I preferred it for the following
reasons:
- The overall picture quality is much better than
the Panasonic.
- The zoom is a lot smoother and produces a very
good quality image even when zoomed in very
close to things, unlike the Panasonic.
4. - There is both an autofocus and a manual focus
feature. Manual focus will help me in the dark scenes
as autofocus doesn't adapt very well to low light
settings. Manual focus will also help me in some of the
'arty' shots where I intend on putting specific parts of
the shot in focus and some parts out of focus. This
feature isn't available on the Panasonic - it only has an
autofocus setting.
-I have used it before and so feel more comfortable
using it than the Panasonic.
- I can use it for taking the photos for my magazine
cover and poster images which I intend on taking on
the days of filming.
