3. OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students should be
able to:
1. Define terms and discuss concepts of fungi in
classification, reproduction, cell wall, vegetative
growth, dimorphism of microbiology.
2. Relate fungi with plants, animals, humans and
other organisms mutualistic and parasitic
relationships.
3. Apply fungi in food industries, waste treatment,
energy production, crop improvement and
medicine.
4. 4. Prepare specimens, use microscope to examine,
identify and differentiate the different fungi.
5. Design basic problem solving procedures for the
enumeration of bioburden and microbial load from
microbiological samples.
5. Assessment
Test : 3 x 10 % = 30 %
Lab Reports : 10 %
Assignment : 10 %
Final Exam : 50 %

Title: Anything about Mycology / presence of
fungus / benefit of fungus in your daily life.
Ex: Production of Tempe → prepare a video about
how to make a traditional tempe.
