● The Spanish
Constitution is the
fundamental law of
Spain since 1978.
● In Spain, the head of
state is the monarch
(the king), but he
does not govern.

Monarchy, divided
into seventeen
autonomous
communities and
two autonomous
cities.

divided into
provinces and
municipalities.
● The Constitution
recognises the rights
and freedom of
Spanish citizens; it
stablished
obligations too.
6. THE SEPARATION OF POWER
IN SPAIN
The Constitution
divides state power
into three branches:
● The legislative
power: it is held by
Parliament.
● The executive
power: it is held by
the Goverment.
● The judicial power :
it is exercised by
judges.
7. THE EUROPEAN UNION
● The European
Union is an
economic and
political union of 28
European
countries.
● It was founded in
1957, but Spain
became part of it in
1986. They have the
same currency :
EURO
