The document proposes changes to Tri-City Health Center's blog and website. It recommends renaming the current "Blog" section to "News" and creating a new "Health Page" blog section. A marketing strategy is outlined to share event postings and updates as News, while writing bi-monthly articles on health topics for the new blog. Goals for the first 6 months include publishing two blog posts per month, promoting the new blog, and gaining social media followers. The first step is to make the recommended website changes before launching the new blog in May.
2. OVERVIEW: OUR CURRENT BLOG
Tri-City Health Center's Blog is currently displayed prominently on our website
landing page, as well as under the drop-down menu for "About Us." Content
includes event postings, clinic additions and expansions, mobile clinic
schedules, and grant announcements, with limited posts on health-related issues
such as hypertension and stress management.
3. PROBLEM STATEMENT
The issue with TCHC's current setup is that most
of the content on our Blog is not what would be
considered traditional Blog content, and better
fits under the umbrella of News.
4. PROPOSED SOLUTION
I recommend that we rename the current Blog,
on both the landing page and the dropdown
menu, "News." I also propose that we create a
new area on the front page, below news,
where our new Blog, called "Health Page." can
be housed.
We should also create a link to the Blog on our
main menu where it's easily visible – between
the dropdowns for "Patient Guide" and
"Support Us" would be ideal.
Most current content should remain under
News, but a few items should be relocated to
the new Blog.
5. MARKETING STRATEGY
Going forward, event postings, clinic additions and expansions, mobile clinic
schedules, and grant announcements will be considered News and will treated as
such, being posted on the newly renamed section of our site.
Concurrently, our organization will begin writing bi-monthly articles for the new
Blog section of our site, which will include content such as editorials on public
health and social determinants of health, tips for managing certain health
conditions, and patient stories.
News items will be shared as separate items on social media, as needed. New
Blog articles will be posted as links to the website to increase traffic, and will go
on any and all social media platforms that seem appropriate.
Employees should be encouraged to contact Development if there are any topics
they would like to see covered, or if they are interesting in writing one to be
edited by Alexis.

7. GOALS
Having a blog is highly useful from a
marketing perspective, as it makes us the
subject matter experts, rather than our
partners, whose content we're sharing. It also
puts content out into the universe that links
back to us, which means if a blog article that
we write does well and is shared a lot online,
we've put ourselves on other's radar.
With our blog, TCHC also has the ability to
gain an increase in social media followers, an
increase in website traffic, and eventually, an
increase in patients.
In the first 6 months of having our new blog
"Health Page," our goals are:
-To publish a minimum of 2 blogs per month.
-To share our new Blog in our next newsletter
and to potentially send an email
announcement out.
-To have each blog shared a minimum of 5
times.
-To gain at least 50 Facebook and LinkedIn
followers, and 25 Twitter followers.
8. NEXT STEPS
The first step is to rename the Blog on
our website to News, to create a new
place for the new Blog "Health Page,"
and to sort through existing content to
separate News items from Blog articles.
Our outside WordPress manager has
been contacted to initiate these
changes, and we are currently awaiting
that step so that we can move forward.
In the meantime, the Blog schedule will
be further developed and pieces for
May, when the Blog will hopefully be
launched, will be drafted by Alexis and
edited by another party on the
Development team.
