Special industrial fan application: Wind Turbines
--
How does the energy supply of the future look? Power generation by wind turbines is increasingly in the focus of the electricity-supplying companies due to energy transition measures adopted by the German Federal Government. An important part of a wind turbine is the protection of the individual components from overheating. No matter whether nacelle ventilation, generator cooling, switch cabinet ventilation, tower air cooling or inverter and transformer cooling - our fans are suitable for every demand in the wind turbine area. Through long years of know-how, these fans are designed for the highest technical demands.
We offer flexible solutions for:
optimum airflow
minimal maintenance
optimized noise behaviour
a wide range of operating voltages (at 50/60 Hz)
maximum efficiency at variable speeds
trouble-free operation even under vibration and voltage peaks
space-saving installation through direct-drives with external rotor motors
The wide performance range for wind turbines
Nacelle ventilation
The nacelle of a wind turbine is home to many high-tech components that give off heat to the environment. Removal of this heat is absolutely necessary for trouble-free operation of the system. Our fans in the DRA, AND and DQ/DR series, for example, can do this.
Generator cooling
Kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy in the generator. Loss of heat occurs during this conversion. This heat must be diverted to protect the generator from overheating. Our fans in the DRA series are ideally suited for this task.
Switch cabinet ventilation
Switch cabinets are essential for perfectly coordinating the components of a wind turbine. Here, too, sufficient heat dissipation is required to protect sensitive electrical components from overheating. Our free running impellers in various designs, as well as fans in the ERA series, have been specifically designed for this application.
Tower air cooling
Wind turbine tower cooling is only possible with large volume flows. For this reason, various axial fans, as well as free-running impellers with standard motors in the DKNM/DKNB/DKNR series are used here.
Inverter and transformer cooling
The cooling of other electronic components, such as converters or transformers, is also no problem for our individually designed fans. It does not matter whether the cooling is to be done in the nacelle or at the base of a wind turbine.

Fans for wind
turbines
Cooling the generator
The generator is the heart of the wind turbine.
During the process of converting kinetic energy to electrical
energy, heat is generated.
Rosenberg Fans, as part of cooling systems, ensure the needed
cooling load, safe life time and efficiency of the generator. Fan
type DRA… and AKS… are ideally suited to this task.
Inverter cooling
To ensure that the generated current can be injected into the
grid at a constant voltage and frequency, inverters are needed.
For cooling the sensitive electronic components individually
designed Rosenberg fans are used.
Transformers
Heat generated in the winding of dry transformers must be
dissipated over the surface of the coil.
Rosenberg fans help to extract the dissipated heat and
simultaneously use the ambient air to cool down the
transformer.
The following advantages result from efficient cooling:
• Higher peak loads can be achieved
• Improved efficiency
• Increase the power of the transformer
• Longer life due to the constant distribution of temperature
