1. This picture was taken at my high
school prom, in the year 2010. In my
last year of high school I missed a lot of
school because of a family issue that
came up. Because of this I was at risk to
not graduate. As soon as I got back to
school I worked extra hard to get back
on track, by doing extra assignments
and tests. I ended up graduating on
time and was able to celebrate with all
my classmates
2. In my sophomore year in high school I was
on the track team and a community center
basketball team. halfway through the
season I sprained my ankle and wasn't able
to play for either of the teams. I was a an
important part of both teams so I wanted to
get back to playing as soon as possible. For a
week and a half I massaged, iced and work
on my ankle as best as I could. After that
week and a half I was able to get back on
the teams and contribute to the success of
them. My community basketball team got
to the semi finals, and my track team came
in third place.
3. In this picture is my “little bro” and I. We
aren’t related but at the community center
I to and volunteer at, there was an
opportunity for me to take a “little bro”
under my wing and be somewhat of a role
model to him. It was my responsibility to
encourage him to be successful in school
and life through my own successes and
failures. I got him a tutor for math because
he needed help in that area. His math
grade went from in the 50’s to the mid 70’s
because of the extra help he received. I
tried my best to give him advice on how to
handle situations and give him a
perspective from someone who was in his
situation not to long ago. In the end we
both ended up learning a lot from the
experience and I feel that we are both
better people for it.
4. In my last year of high school I was the
captain of the basketball team. We were
the underdogs of the league, and there
were players who didn't get along very
well. It was up to me to be a good leader
and lead them as far as i could. I
convinced them that our only chance at
winning was for everybody to swallow
their pride and work together towards
the main goal. By the end of year we had
only one loss and went on our way
towards the championship
5. In this picture my brother and I
were out celebrating a dinner
for youth that volunteer in our
local community. I took time to
help run basketball camps for
kids aged anywhere from 8
years old to around 12.
Whenever I had extra time from
work or school I would go to the
community center and help
coach and train the kids. I met a
lot of cool kids and co workers
while doing this. The life
experience I gained from this
will stay with me for life.
